South Carolina legislators have passed a law making it a crime for anyone in The Palmetto State to enforce the implementation of ObamaCare:

The South Carolina state House passed a bill Wednesday that declares President Obama’s Patient Protection and Affordable  Care Act to be “null and void,” and criminalizes its implementation.

The state’s Freedom of HealthCare Protection Act intends to “prohibit certain individuals from enforcing or attempting to enforce such unconstitutional laws; and to establish criminal penalties and civil liability for violating this article.”

The measure permits the state Attorney General, with reasonable cause, “to restrain by temporary restraining order, temporary injunction, or permanent injunction” any person who is believed to be causing harm to any person or business with the implementation of Obamacare.

Earlier this year in her state of the state address, Gov. Nikki Haley said that South Carolina does not want and cannot afford. the president’s plan, “not now, not ever.”

“To that end, we will not pursue the type of government-run health exchanges being forced on us by Washington,” she said. “Despite the rose-colored rhetoric coming out of D.C., these exchanges are nothing more than a way to make the state do the federal government’s bidding in spending massive amounts of taxpayer dollars on insurance subsidies that we can’t afford.”

The nullification bill moved on to the state Senate Thursday and referred to the Committee on Finance.

The national media, the lefties, and the GOP establishment are having a nationwide group hissy fit over the congressional  candidacy of former Gov. Mark Sanford (R).  The NRCC — whose job is to support GOP nominees — has backed away from supporting  Sanford.  The  DC GOP and alleged conservative intelligentsia are poo-pooing Sanford as hard as they can, urging South Carolina voters to drop him like a hot potato.

How has the SC GOP reacted to this?  Gov. Nikki Haley has endorsed Sanford and is actively campaigning for him.  US Senators Lindsey Graham and Tim Scott (who HAD held the seat prior to being appointed to the Senate) have both endorsed Sanford and are actively campaigning for him.  They recognize that a free-market embracing guy — who had a messy divorce — is a much better choice for South Carolina (and the country) than the union-owned Democrat candidate who happens to be the sister of that idiot on Comedy Central. (If the RNC had thought like that in 2012, we’d likely have at least two more conservative GOP votes in the US Senate today.)
