The N&O busts Tillis’s aide, but what about Dalton’s daughter?

It’s a shame that — in the middle of the state’s full blown economic disaster — our political class is caught up in tabloid-quality stories and allegations.   It came out today in The N&O that State House Speaker Thom Tillis’s married MALE  top aide has been ALLEGEDLY riding dirty with a FEMALE registed lobbyist.

(On one hand, this looks like a change-the-subject- from-Parmley  piece of payback from Democrat operatives.  On the other hand, the mention of the private detective firm suggests this story has its roots in an angry, suspicious wife trying to rip her philandering spouse a new one.)

The N&O brings up an important point about state  law:

State ethics laws seek to ensure that public officials exercise their authority “free from impropriety, threats, favoritism, and undue influence.” Lobbying laws regulate the point at which a lobbyist intersects with a public official, mostly aimed at prohibiting gift giving.

I am SERIOUSLY not trying to defend Thomas or Tillis.  But since we’re into cleaning house at Jones Street,  what about Elizabeth Robinson — Lt. Gov. Walter Dalton’s daughter?   Her lobbying career got started while Daddy was an up-and-coming member of The State Senate, and grew while he was Lt. Gov. overseeing a Democrat-controlled Senate.  Daddy is now trying to become governor of our great state.
Hey, N&O newsroom — any chance there has been any “favoritism” or “impropriety” or “undue influence” in this father-daughter professional dynamic?  Just askin’ …

  1. Since we’re cleaning house at Jones Street, let’s remember that Dalton, Perdue and Tillis ALL signed Sentate Bill 272 which lets the state bar treasurer Lunsford continue to evade state and federal taxes on its multi-million dollar IOLTA lawyers trust fund.
The clause is cleverly added on page two of the bill, which is about victims crime fund.

  2. Be sure your sins will find out …

So it seems a heterosexual affair trumps a democrat operative that was paid off with hush money from hard working democrat donors.. then to top it all, the instigator infects the poor girl he’s having the affair with with HIV. And after that, he sexually harasses a male democrat staffer. Nice!

Yep! As bad as Thomas’s indiscretion is, no one was paid off with hush money, or was harassing another man for sex. The best way to compare Thomas, is to democrat candidate John Edwards … the same circumstances apply concerning the wives.

But then, when the Left calls the Right hypocrites … it means …
“hypocrisy is the tribute paid by vice to virtue.” by La Rochefoucauld

  3. As bad as the affair is, and the trust that has been destroyed by Charles Thomas’s infidelity … along with the ethical behavior that has been compromised if it’s proven Thomas’s lobbyist concubine used her inside position to get favored access to Tillis’s office … concerning legislation presented, or not to the floor of the House, then they both certainly need to be nailed to the wall.

  4. Is it true that individuals in Asheville’s Mission Hospital conglomerate were the ones that hired the private detective to stalk Charles Thomas? They’ve advocated for homosexuality and against the marriage amendment. While there is no excuse for Thomas’s despicable behavior, politic opponents are now becoming more vicious.

Every Republican should be watching their back … it seems there is no limit in the amount of money spent to dig up dirt on the Lefts political adversaries. You philandering and ethically challenged Republicans better keep you nose clean. Or better yet … if the above applies, just get your duds and do your philandering on somebody elses dime.
