I realize that Kansas is a long way from our regular stomping grounds. But this piece about the current state of the US Senate race in Kansas jogged more than a few memories for me.
Apparently, Democrat Adam Hamilton is leading incumbent Republican Roger Marshall in the recent polls.
Kansas has long been a reliably Republican state. But, in recent years, they’ve taken on a growing RINO problem that has led to regular significant defections over to Democrats at election time. To that crowd, a DEM is better than a conservative Republican.
If you’ve ever attended a United Methodist Church, you’ve likely heard the name Adam Hamilton. He’s long been the pastor of the nation’s largest UMC congregation headquartered in the Kansas City area.
I used to attend a Methodist Church in my area. During that time, the church offered regular book studies on stuff Hamilton authored. Sunday school lessons featured video curriculum starring Hamilton. Pastors even managed to quote Hamilton occasionally in sermons. And this was in North Carolina.
I remember one particular Sunday school lesson during the first Trump administration. Leftist were all bent out of shape over the border wall. We watched a video featuring Hamilton at the border between Mexico and California. The video showed Mexicans on the US side reaching through the wall to try and touch and console relatives on the Mexican side. Hamilton made us believe, via the video, that this wall was no better than the old Berlin Wall. I guess he’s never heard stories of people crossing the border regularly to make daily visits to each country.
Apparently, Hamilton is now the Democrat nominee opposing incumbent Roger Marshall (R) in November. The sickening thing is: The United Methodist Church – a tax exempt entity — has been helping Hamilton raise his name ID for years via all of their churches across Kansas and the nation.
The United Methodist Church – like the Presbyterian Church USA (PCUSA), the Unitarians and the Quakers — has been quite active in left-wing political causes over the years. Know any Vietnam veterans? Get some of them to tell you about the aid and comfort the UMC gave the Viet Cong and war protesters. A PCUSA church in our area – a few years ago – hosted a symposium straight out of the Black Lives Matter playbook.
At the fall of the Soviet Union, it leaked out that the KGB considered the Catholic church in Eastern Europe its most potent foe. The church inspired and gave hope to anti-government activists in the struggle to knock down the Berlin Wall and the Iron Curtain.
The far left apparently learned their lessons about the power of the church and is stepping up their game to infiltrate and control denominations top-down. These days it’s rare to find an honest-to-God conservative pastor. Seminaries – like most colleges – lean left and so do a lot of the graduates they spit out. I like my pastors politics-free.
Granted, Georgia already has a pastor serving as a Democrat in the US Senate. But Adam Hamilton and his story ought to give you some food for thought the next time you’re attending a major denomination church and the plate gets passed.
He’s a good example of where the money in the plate is going.
