New poll: Cooper by FIVE

Roy’s undefeated streak in polling on this race lives on.  The closest the polls have had this clash was a tie back in July 2025.

A group out of Georgia polled the Whatley-Cooper kerfluffle from 9/16 to 9/17.   The survey of 1200 likely voters with a MOE of 2.83 percent found Roy Cooper leading Mike Whatley by 4.9 percent  (48.4 to 43.5).

Might as well be FIVE.

This appears to be InsiderAdvatage‘s first public foray into our state’s 2026 US Senate race (under that name, at least).  It does not appear that they polled publicly – again, under the name InsiderAdvantage – during the 2024 governor’s race nor the 2022 US Senate race.

Respondents broke down as follows: 384 Democrats, 408 Republicans, and 408 Independents.  Cooper gets 86.3 percent of Democrats while Whatley gets 86.1 percent of Republicans.  Cooper leads Whatley with Independents by 53.7 percent to 32.4 percent.

Whatley has a small lead over Cooper with Males, White people, and – surprising to some – Hispanics.   Cooper has a significant lead among blacks, females, and people of *Other* races.

Cooper has a sizable lead among respondents between 18 and 39 years old but a small one with respondents 65 and older.  Whatley has a small lead over Cooper with respondents between 40 and 64 years old.

According to the survey, nearly 16 percent of respondents between 18 and 39 years old describe themselves as Undecided.
