John Hood: Donald Trump is a BIGOT
It’s pretty apparent that Raleigh’s *Mr. Conservative* doesn’t think much of GOP presidential frontrunner Donald Trump or his supporters:
THAT –my friends — is sarcastic repartee in the vein of what one might expect from an admirer of Lord Shaftesbury-FancyPants of 16th century England. It’s also a not-so-veiled slap at Trump. That remark brought out some Trump defenders:
That raised the dander of the guy who – among other things — has called for state installation of tracking devices on our cars for the purposes of taxation, has praised Pat McCrory as a conservative hero and is currently peddling a book suggesting the same of Jim Martin:
“{T}arting up his platform with bigotry and provocation is just one of his cons.” Bigotry? Seeking to firmly secure our southern border is bigoted? Wanting to clamp down on Islamic immigration when we’ve seen what it has wrought in London, New York, DC, Paris, San Bernadino and scores of other places around the world is BIGOTED ??? (Nope.)
Jimmy Carter clamped down on Iranian immigration near the end of his term. MEXICO is much tougher on immigrants than we are toward Mexicans who sneak into our country.
If little John is right, then he is literally surrounded and overwhelmed by BIGOTS. Polls show the American people — and the GOP primary electorate — firmly behind the positions Trump is advocating on immigration.
I guess, for young Mr. Hood, keeping the Raleigh and DC cocktail party invites flowing is a lot more important than saving the country.
John Hood is out of touch with the “folks”. I’ve been a Christian, Pro Life, fiscal conservative working as a volunteer activist for the Republican Party for over 25 years. RINOs detest us, use us, and have divided us on LIFE issues, illegal immigration and the outrageous Common Core debacle that is killing academics in America.
People are furious at establishment politicians, PC and the growing Socialism that is strangulating American life. Trump’s whole life is about overcoming bureaucratic inertia and successfully creating a fiscal empire, and now wants to ‘give back’ to the country he loves. So far, I see no other like Trump to shatter the corrupt system controlling both parties, and there is no one else with PROVEN SUCCESS at every thing he does as the Donald. Conventional wisdom ain’t working anymore.

Under U.S. Code 8 USC §1182, the president does have the statutory authority to keep anyone out of the country, for any reason he thinks best.
“Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.”
The President has the authority to do exactly what Trump is describing. And by the way, this kind of thing has happened before.
The very first US immigration law was the Chinese Exclusionary Act of 1882.
Then there was the Anarchist Exclusion Act of 1903
FDR (D) did it during WWII for the Japanese.
During The Great Depression, President Herbert Hoover (R) ordered the deportation of ALL illegal aliens.
Harry Truman (D) deported over two million Illegal’s after WWII to create jobs for returning veterans.
In 1954, President Dwight Eisenhower (R) deported 13 million Mexican Nationals. The program was called ‘Operation Wetback’

Jimmy Carter (D), did it in 1979 to keep Iranians out of the United States, but he actually did more. He made all Iranian students already here check in, and then he deported them.
obama (D) did it in 2011 when Iraqi refugees were trying to get into America and Al Qaeda infiltrated the program.
John Hood reminds we of what George Wallace used to call ”pointy headed intellectuals” who simply did not understand how things are in the real world. This is hardly the first time he has gone off the conservative reservation. Some of his ideas like a ”non-partisan” redistricting commission would be quite harmful. Ask a California Republican or an Arizona Republican how ”non-partisan” those commissions really turn out, and which party they end up tilting heavily to!
