Conservatives tout former NC senator Shubert for RNC vacancy

Each state’s Republican Party gets three reps on the Republican National Committee: the state’s party chairman, plus an elected committeeman and elected committee-woman.  It appears North Carolina’s GOP now has a vacancy on that body:

That’s the female post in the state’s delegation.  So, a female will have to be selected to replace Brassington and finish out her term.  State party leaders will meet to make this decision.

Former North Carolina state senator Fern Shubert (R-Union County) has tossed her hat in the ring for the selection process.   This move has caught the eye of party leader Jim Womack, head of the Conservative Coalition of North Carolina:

Another name being bandied about is that of Raleigh-area GOP activist Felice Pete.  She currently serves as a vice-president of the NC Federation of Republican Women.

With the looming disaster facing the state GOP in November, leadership decisions like this are more important than ever.
