Raleigh’s bi-partisan fling with ‘Black Lives Matter’
Our little site here has been a frequent critic of the NCGOP’s championing of cronyism — and the symbolism of the little ‘R’ — over ideology and principles. Since Thom Tillis‘s arrival in Raleigh, the state party has done a masterful job in running off activists and leaders who dare to try and adhere to the stuff in the party platform.
Though, conservatism DOES come in handy for the NCGOPe when it comes time to get the *rubes* in *fly-over country* in line for the approaching election. The run-up to an election is about the only time you hear the party establishment speak lovingly of limited government.
This approach can come off looking a wee bit hypocritical and mighty awkward when you compare what the GOPe says and does right in front of an election to what it says and does outside of campaign time. Here’s an example, courtesy of the state party’s propaganda minister:
The *march* he’s talking about occurred in 2020 — allegedly in reaction to the death of George Floyd. It’s true. Roy did hang out in the streets — surrounded by security — with BLM for a minute or two.
But guess who else did TOO:
Without the evidence that came over my transom, I would have found this hard to believe. Remember when the “Defund The Police” / “Black Lives Matter” / DEMOCRAT mob marched on state GOP HQ in Raleigh? Well, guess who lined up the permit for the march on and protest at NCGOP HQ?
None other than the North Carolina Federation of Young Republicans (NCFYR). Yes, boys and girls, that’s right. And HERE — as proof — is a copy of the march permit they obtained.
If you read the linked permit, you will see it was obtained, on behalf of the NCFYR, by someone named Charlie Mulligan. Mulligan, it turns out, is the “grassroots director” for NCFYR and a close ally of NCFYR chairman Catherine Whiteford.
Let’s go back to the language Mulligan used in the protest permit. According to Mulligan, the purpose of the protest was “To march in solidarity with those protesting the death of George Floyd and Police brutality.”
*Beautiful.*
This is not the first time Whiteford and her gang have graced the pages of this website. Whiteford was on the NCGOP payroll while she ran a quixotic state House campaign against an incumbent Democrat.
She also complained that the GOP needs to find more ways to “work with Democrats” and that the party needs to be more open to “progressives.”
Any guesses as to WHO the NCGOP state chairman was at the time this picketing went on? That’s right — Mike Whatley. *That Zip–loc bag of week-old, left-over mashed potatoes himself. *
As party chairman, Whatley COULD have taken steps to stop the youngsters from doing this. But, no, not one word in protest.
Folks, this is what you get with the GOP establishment. They pay lip-service to conservatism and the party platform when they want something from us yokels. But in reality — most of the time, actually — the GOPe is maybe 15 to 20 percent less statist than the Democrats.
