Countering the SEL-CRT-DEI alphabet mafia in public education

If you have kids in school, they are likely hearing more about the oppression of “people of color” by white “cisgender” Christian men than “The Three Rs”. DEI-SEL-CRT have also slithered their way into corporate America.  If you don’t fall in line and get yourself “correct,” you run the risk of losing business, business opportunities, and even employment.

Contemporary lefties have long forgotten MLK’s speech about “content of character […] not the color of […] skin,” and are now aiming to punish straight white Christian males for any and all of the perceived “oppression” of “people of color” they can find in history or simply make up.  Their weapons of choice?  Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.  Critical Race Theory.  Social Emotional Learning.

Yes, boys and girls.  All that stuff George Orwell warned us about so many years ago has now arrived.

Joe Biden has signed an executive order firmly cementing these acronyms — DEI, CRT, and SEL — into American life.

Fortunately, we are starting to see some pushback to this madness.   Gov. Ron DeSantis has launched an effort to kill off DEI-CRT-SEL in the University of Florida system.

Texas is also trying to stomp the life out of DEI-SEL-CRT on its state campuses.

The National Association of Scholars has called for an end to this alphabet madness.

Here in North Carolina, the UNC Board of Governors is doing its part to kill off this socialist Orwellian cancer.:

[…] The University of North Carolina (UNC) moved against encroaching woke culture and voted to ban diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) statements and politically preferential hiring.

UNC voted to ban DEI statements and compelled speech from admission, hiring, promotion and tenure at its Board of Governors meeting Thursday.

The board stated the university “shall neither solicit nor require an employee or applicant for academic admission or employment to affirmatively ascribe to or opine about beliefs, affiliations, ideals, or principles regarding matters of contemporary political debate or social action as a condition to admission, employment, or professional advancement,” according to the resolution. An employee or applicant also can’t “be solicited or required to describe his or her actions in support of, or in opposition to, such beliefs, affiliations, ideals, or principles.”

“Practices prohibited here include but are not limited to solicitations or requirements for statements of commitment to particular views on matters of contemporary political debate or social action contained on applications or qualifications for admission or employment included as criteria for analysis of an employee’s career progression.”[…]

I swear that I can hear the leftist faculty teeth gnashing all the way down here in Moore County.  The board already poked the leftist bear with its establishment of a new “School of Civic Life.”

Basically, this new “school” within the university will focus on respect for differing opinions and the idea of civilly debating vs. the angry shout-down.  Of course, leftists on and off the faculty are outraged.  They ought to be embarrassed that they are being MADE to do this.  It wasn’t that long ago these same lefties themselves were demanding a fair shake for “differing opinions” and “civil discourse.”

It’s much more fun to stomp out dissent than it is to listen to it.  The Castro brothers, President Xi, and Daniel Ortega can tell you all about that.

What the board of governors has done is only the tip of the iceberg.  DEI-CRT-SEL has dug its claws in and infested community colleges, day cares AND K-12 as well.  Look at what the Alphabet mafia has done to our community college campus here in bright-red Moore County (here, here, here, here, and here).

The General Assembly, the state board of education, and the community college board ALL need to come out strong against SEL-CRT-DEI.  It is strangling the life out of what was once a great educational system.  It is handicapping our students in the race to compete with China and other economic powers.  It is also hopelessly and unnecessarily dividing our country and stirring up trouble.
