We filled you in earlier about some John Bell-inspired skullduggery related to commercial fishing. Apparently, there are some new developments. At least that’s what Rep. Beverly Boswell (R-Dare) says in this email to commercial fishing supporters:
Good Afternoon,We have avoided a great disaster.The Wildlife Committee scheduled a meeting late yesterday afternoon. HB 867 was NOT on the agenda. While in Committee all morning, I received MULTIPLE phone calls and emails concerning HB 867. The CCA people and their lobbyists were sighted in a few KEY Representative’s offices this morning in deep discussion. One of my dear friends that is on the Wildlife Committee was approached this morning to ask for their support in the Committee meeting scheduled for today. My friend (thank God) told him straight out: 867 is NOT on the Agenda and if it is read in, I will OBJECT.
Fortunately for us, my Health Committee is chaired by Rules Chair David Lewis. I walked straight up to him and gave him the information that I had been given all morning. Representative Lewis agreed with me about the Committee’s agenda of the past evening. I informed Representative Lewis that the Speaker assured me that 867 would NOT be heard in Committee especially today. Representative Lewis put a stop to this Committee’s foolishness. I am very grateful for Representative Lewis’ intervention.
I wanted to give you a head up on the shenanigans going on in the NCGA. Shame on them for this underhanded attempt to rob the Commercial Fishermen of their livelihood. If you have to sneak around, then it’s probably not a good bill.I will be bringing this up in the next Caucus. I will keep you updated.Thank you for everything guys. Keep those talking points coming. We have to keep in mind that Ms. Boswell is just a rookie on Jones Street. She sounds like she is just learning that people around those parts LIE A LOT.
Let’s hope we honestly can stick a fork in this piece of drama.
Rep. Boswell is a breath of fresh air in the House. As I recall, it was funding from Chris Millis’ conservative PAC that made the difference in getting her elected in a seat that had not gone Republican since Reconstruction.
Great news! But the CCA needs to be watched like a hawk. Looks like Rep Boswell has her eyes on them!
Wow, there is some integrity to be found in Raleigh. Thank God for Rep. Boswell and those who saw fit to elect her.
So…there are obviously two sides to every story.
We saw the same announcement about the Wildlife Resources Committee meeting and wondered why HB867 was not on the agenda. The logical course of action to follow was to approach the Chairs of the committee with that question. Next was to check in with the Rules Chair’s office to understand the protocol for adding it to the agenda.
Those questions were answered and no attempt was made to add the bill to the agenda. Shenanigans or process followed?
Perhaps we should have tried to slip the changes into the budget as Special Provisions? Or amend it onto some other bill making its way through? That would be something straight out of the commercial industry playbook.
Instead, HB867 was filed in the light of day through the open, transparent bill filing procedures. All we have asked for is a chance to have the bill debated and voted on through the normal legislative process. Someone’s backroom politics has prevented this from happening. Now there is a story worth reporting on.
Oh… So you are admitting you’re behind the bill. Finally, David Sneed, North Carolina CCA Executive Director, admits he’s behind pushing legislation to put commercial fisherman out of business. It’s about time you admitted your dirty little deeds. Shame on you for ruining John Bell and Larry Yarboroughs reputations! Oh, wait! They’ve done that to themselves! There is nothing I repeat nothing transparent about the CCA!
David, David, David. You’re being spanked by a rookie Rep., and like a petulant child, you are acting out. Change your diaper. You are stinking up the place.

I saw the announcement of the Wildlife Committee meeting yesterday, went straight to the Committee’s page, and was relieved to see the subject was 3 OTHER bills.
Still needs to be watched, or they’ll get up to no good.
I love this woman! Beverly Boswell understands the proper role of government unlike some of the statist leadership of the NCGOP. Now its time to fix the stacked and packed pay to play MFC. Let’s see which reps fight against reforms that breakup the rogue regulators and their despicable power abuse. Bet I can name them now. Make them vote and show their colors.
Bill Cook, Norman Sanderson, Michael Speciale, Larry Pitman and many others get it! Boswell is fearless and is not worried about getting reelected as much as she is representing The folks in her district!

I just saw the video put out about the NC Sound Economy featuring our past Governor, Pat McCrory. This after Pat said to some of his past employees and appointees that his appeasement to the CCA on those Nov 2 appointments to the MFC aided in his loss. There can be no other correct conclusion than what you see on this video is where the absolute determination of the CCA to control our coastal waters, Pats love of power, and sour $$$$$$ come together. Pat has sold his soul once again. The CCA has convinced him that he needs them to win in 2020. Look out Dan Forrest, Robin Hayes is over neck deep in this.

As I have explained, the state convention was the first round of Tillis versus Forest for governor, and our Tillis forces won. McCrory is a loser and just a sideshow.
We of Team Tillis rule the NCGOP HQ and will help Thom be our next governor.
I wish some of you who appreciate Rep Boswell would occasionally comment in a positive way on articles written about her on the Outer Banks Voice blog. The mention of her name brings out ugly comments by our local so-called environmentalists. They care little about our fishermen and you’d think bringing back plastic bags was the equivalent to spreading smallpox.

Mattie, I have given up on the Outer Banks Voice after their liberal censorship on certain environmental issues. I posted on there defending Bill Cook on the wind turbine issue, and when the discussion got into the birds those things kill, I posted a number of links to sites with information on the massive bird kills. Those posts were taken down. The Outer Banks Voice seems to have as much tolerance for conservative opinions as Think Progress does. Apparently they do not like pesky facts that explode their liberal environmental myths.
