#ncpol: What is this “fight” you speak of, Grandpa?

After weeks of hiding — and sending Dallas out to advocate for a new election  and even telling legislators to change the law to allow for a new primary — NCGOP chairman Robin Hayes has come out,um, swinging: We won this round. Democrat Governor Roy Cooper tried to intimidate the NCGOP into submitting names for a sham kangaroo elections board. With the law on our side, we said no to his bullying. Because the NCGOP stood for the constitution and the rule of law, as noted by the news media, Cooper was embarrassed into backing down. Cooper served in the…

Monkey Business Report: Technical Corrections

In the legislature, “technical corrections” are sort of like the “consent agenda” you hear about in city council and county commissioner meetings.  Meant to be for correcting things like spelling, grammar and other typos, “technical corrections” are a fantastic opportunity for the honorables to sneak stuff in under the radar to take care of their friends. Take SB 469 for instance.  The bill, sponsored by senator Harry Brown (R), was vetoed by the governor but easily overridden by the legislature.  Here’s one of the more interesting sections of the bill: […] “SECTION 15.9.(f) Notwithstanding any other provision of law or…

NC-09: “Baseless” in 2016 = NOBLE in 2018-19

It’s funny how Pat McCrory’s concerns about vote fraud in 2016 – which sound a lot like the stuff we’re talking about NOW — were derided by leftists as “baseless”.  But, in 2018, when  they’re on the losing end, they’ll fuss about the same stuff and defend their efforts as “bringing back democracy.” Dan McCready — a stalking horse / front man for former Duke Power CEO and liberal activist Jim Rogers  — is doubling down on his quixotic crusade to paint the former president of the North Carolina Southern  Baptist Convention as an amoral, unethical knuckle-dragging crook. “Stole votes”,…

NC-09: Can We Talk?

It sounds like the Mark Harris campaign  is in the mood: Perhaps this is a first step toward an armistice / truce in this fight over the Ninth Congressional District?  It’s interesting how quiet the McCready campaign  has gotten, and how Robert Pittenger is suddenly no longer interested in being a candidate in an election do-over. As a pastor and devout Christian, I am sure Dr. Harris is much more inclined to trust people than I am.  (Thirty years in politics will instill a little skepticism and cynicism in you.)  I had a chance to review the online evidence “dump”…

NC-09: 48 subpoenas (and NO ONE to serve them)

Hillary Clinton’s lawyer has stepped up to represent Dan McCready (D) in the political sideshow currently engulfing the Ninth Congressional District.  Marc Elias has written to former state board of elections chairman Josh Malcolm to lay out his need for 48 subpoenas to be issued to witnesses ahead of the January 11 “vote fraud” hearing. The  most notable names on Elias’s list are Dallas Woodhouse and Robin Hayes.  Elias claims Hayes knows something about electoral shenanigans in the race.  (Personally, I don’t think Hayes is aware of what’s happening inside NCGOP HQ — much less inside the Mark Harris campaign.) …

From “Genius” to “Tarheel of The Year”: Lefties inflate ‘The Round Rev’

At first,I thought the news of William Barber being named a MacArthur  “Genius”  was the work of ‘The Onion’ or another of James O’Keefe’s hijinks.  But NO, it was true. Now comes The N&O.  With all of the possible choices for ‘Tarheel of The Year,’  they had to pick “Rev. Race Pimp” himself. I’ve never encountered another pastor who compares himself to Jesus Christ as much as this guy does.   Jesus advocated for neighbors to reach out and help their neighbors in need.  I can’t find the biblical passages where he calls for government confiscation of private assets to…

How much border wall does $5 bil. get you?

It appears somebody went out there and figured it all out: As Congress battles over President Trump’s demand for $5 billion in border-wall funding, Homeland Security officials explained Friday what that money could actually buy. According to DHS officials, the funding would cover the construction of 215 miles of “wall system” on the southern border.[..]  Authorities estimate the total length of the US-Mexico border as somewhere between 1900 and 2000 miles.  And the government has been shut down over funding for 215 of those miles. MORE: […] What that system would include is a matter of debate. But DHS officials…

NCGOPe decides to start fighting FOR Mark Harris

(It looks and sounds like they’ve been getting an earful from outside the Raleigh beltline on this.) Here’s where we stand.  A three judge state panel (2Ds, 1R) ordered the current state elections board to be dissolved. On Thursday, the legislature overrode a Cooper veto — allowing for the seating of a new state elections board as of January 31. Meanwhile, earlier today, the Mark Harris campaign petitioned the state elections board in court to call an emergency meeting and certify the Ninth district race before the noon deadline to disband said state board.   The state board refused to call the…

NC-09: State elections board? (Buh-bye.)

That’s the latest word from the bench amid the chaos of the Ninth Congressional District chaos: A three-judge panel overseeing a lawsuit challenging the current makeup of the North Carolina State Board of Elections issued a new ruling Thursday night that effectively dissolves the board at noon on Friday.[…]  That’s TODAY, people. MORE: […] The panel issued a ruling late Thursday afternoon denying a request to further delay an order requiring the board to dissolve. The order was originally issued the order on October 16, 2018 but stayed its ruling through early December, to allow the current NCSBE to administer the…

For UNC, Silent Sam=”HATE” while ‘Satanic Club’ is OKAY.

We all know about the vandalism of the Silent Sam war memorial in Chapel Hill, and the leftist tantrum over even the thought of repairing and re-erecting it. I told you recently about a Louis Farrakhan acolyte coming in to UNC’s Asheville campus to keynote their MLK festivities.  This speaker is apparently too radical for the radical leftist “Women’s March” movement.  Yet, as far as we know, she is still ON to speak at UNCA.  If THAT didn’t turn your stomach, take a look at what’s happening on UNC’s Raleigh campus: A new club has just completed its inaugural semester…
