#ncga: Attack web site goes up, fur continues to fly in Covil v. Grange
These ladies in New Hanover County are NOT playing softball. Republicans Tammy Covil and Holly Grange are duking it out for the GOP nomination for state House district 20. There is no Democrat, so the winner of the primary gets a two year stay in Raleigh. Hopefully, somebody will survive this. Literally.
The Covil campaign has launched a website (hollygrange.com) that criticizes Grange’s alleged business ties to Hillary Clinton pal Sidney Blumenthal.
The Grange campaign has responded with something along the lines of ”Mrs Covil has no clue.”
Covil has upped the ante by calling for Grange to drop out of the race: 
[…] “If Holly Grange thinks that using the former senior advisor to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign to secretly lobby on behalf of Osprey, while he was pushing Clinton to go to war in Benghazi, is not relevant to the state House seat she seeks, she simply cannot be trusted to represent District 20 in Raleigh,” Covil said in the email. “I call on her to immediately withdraw from this race.” […]
Grange, of course, says she’s not going anywhere.
This race is being seen as a clash between grassroots Tea Party types (Covil) vs. the more moderate, establishment wing (Grange) of the GOP.
“the more moderate…” ??? You are delusional if you think that. Or that’s just what Covil camp is feeding you. There is nothing moderate about me nor other new and growing Grange supporters I’ve met recently. We simply cannot stomach the nuttiness and lack leadership shown by Tammy during her tenure on school board the past couple years as an example of how she would represent us in Raleigh.
As I’ve replied before on other posts, WE ALL USED TO SUPPORT HER. This is not an “us vs. them” scenario. It is an “us vs. we-have-no-faith-or-professional-respect-in-Tammy-anymore” scenario.
We have too many yankee carpetbaggers in office. We do not need another one like Grange. Illinois Republicans like Grange are rarely conservative.
Grange was a lawyer back home in Illinois. Any reason she is not practicing law in NC?
You’re hilariously characterization of Covil’s leadership on the School Board shows you have no clue what you’re talking about.
She’s often been the lone voice of reason there, stood up for parental and student rights and has fought the good fight on Common Core.
Ms. Grange has ZERO education experience, which is what is sorely needed in a democrat run education system in this state and democrat directed in the legislature.
And yes, it is US versus THEM. Grange, while I applaud her service to our country is a RINO. Period. She’s aligned herself with Bill Cobey, for crying out loud — who just said he is supporting the Kasich campaign.
Give us a break.

It is Cobey who created the establishment faction in the NCGOP, back when he was state chairman. On another board, he and his establishment successors were often called the ”Cobey dynasty”. They were the ones who put the state party to running in a top-down fashion, excluding the grassroots.
Cobey has also sold us out on Common Core. Perhaps he should be called a ”Commonist”. Now Cobey is even backing pro-Obamacare liberal John Kasich for president.
There is an old saying about birds of a feather, and Grange’s chumming up with the likes of Bill Cobey tells you all you need to know about her being a Big Government Republican.
