The Lyin’ Queen: Amnesty, gay marriage, govt spending, late-term abortion, ObamaCare and Renee Ellmers

ellmers1Is she unbalanced?  Is she a pathological liar?  Or is she merely just not as skilled in the art of deception and flim-flammery as the rest of her colleagues are?  Those are just some of the questions being posed by the angry and perplexed constituents of 2nd district congresswoman Renee Ellmers.

In 2012, she won rave reviews from the gay marriage crowd for publicly criticizing the marriage amendment to the state constitution, but then had the nerve to run campaign ads labeling herself “a fighter for family values.”

Since she arrived in DC, Ellmers has mouthed vague platitudes about wanting to repeal ObamaCare.  Yet, she mercilessly attacked the 2013 efforts of Ted Cruz to defund ObamaCare.

Renee has also given lip service to the idea of fiscal conservatism, but has voted for EVERY increase in the federal debt ceiling.

Ellmers has claimed in several interviews and in ads that she “opposes amnesty.”  Yet, she fought recent legislation aimed at rolling back Barry Obama’s illegal executive actions on amnesty for illegal aliens.

Her latest move involved helping Planned Parenthood beat back a bill banning late-term abortions.  It looks like her labor paid off:

House Republicans on Wednesday dropped a bill that would have banned abortions after 20 weeks, abandoning legislation that at one time seemed certain to pass the chamber but fell victim to intra-party disputes over concerns that the law would alienate women voters.

The failure of the bill, which was intended to be Congress’ first anti-abortion legislation of the new session, reflects divides in the GOP just weeks after it assumed control of both houses for the first time in eight years.mouth

[…]The failed bill, which reflected the idea that a fetus can feel pain at 20 weeks, would have criminalized virtually all abortions for pregnancies of 20 weeks or longer. It would offer some exceptions, including for victims of rape that have already been reported to authorities.

But some Republicans, including female members of Congress, objected to that requirement, saying that many women feel too distressed to report rapes and should not be penalized. A 2013 Justice Department report calculated that just 35 percent of rapes and sexual assaults were reported to police.

“The issue becomes, we’re questioning the woman’s word,” Rep. Renee Ellmers, R-N.C., said earlier Wednesday. “We have to be compassionate to women when they’re in a crisis situation.”

So, she has a problem with certain provisions of the legislation?  That’s *funny*. She had no problem with supporting an IDENTICAL bill introduced in the House in 2013. Why not simply seek amendments to the legislation — as opposed to lobbying to have it pulled completely?   CLICK HERE to watch video of Ellmers officially pulling her name off of the late-term abortion bill in question.

If Renee Ellmers had actually campaigned on these issue positions she has taken, she’d be back home in Harnett 181477_4887315982703_432071545_nCounty resuming her role as unhappy doctor’s wife. That could STILL happen in 2016.  (What do you think, Jim Duncan?)
