Guess what? Tillis STILL screwing over President Trump
Thom Tillis: an anus until the very end.
In the last Congressional session — before the kibosh was put on conservative rankings – Vermont socialist Bernie Sanders was voting to the right of our worthless, useless, lying, reprobate of a senior senator. Paul Shumaker, Jason Simmons, and Mike Whatley were ready to shove Thom Tillis down our throats one more time. But those pesky polls got in the way.
So now, the GOPe is trying to force feed us Thom’s little brother Michael Whatley. Whatley learned well from his big brother Thom, who held on to his House seat and speakership all the way through the 2014 Senate race. He could raise money for the US Senate race while promising and performing all kinds of political favors in Raleigh. Whatley just stepped down from his RNC post Friday, but not before arranging a sweet RNC-NCGOPe fundraising deal to benefit his fledgeling campaign for US Senate.
This site, and many others, have correctly beat on the GOP majority in the US Senate for failing to confirm so many of Trump’s nominees. GOP leaders could have taken the Senate into recess and allowed President Trump to do all kinds of recess appointments. But, no — they did the Democrats a solid and kept the chamber in session.
The nominees are being held up by something called ‘blue slips.’ If a senator from a state that will be affected by the nominee doesn’t like the nominee, he or she can submit a blue slip and delay the nomination from going forward. I remember Jesse Helms doing it to Bill Clinton — and even George H.W. Bush. But I sure don’t remember Republicans standing firm and using blue slips to the extent the Democrats are using them now.
Apparently, the Democrats have a massive nomination blocking operation underway. Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles Grassley is being lobbied by The White House to suspend the blue slip procedure. But Thom Tillis who, for some reason, is on the Judiciary Committee, has something to say about that:
By honoring the U.S. Senate’s blue-slip tradition, two GOP members are “becoming part of the antithesis” of what President Donald Trump’s administration is trying to accomplish, acting New Jersey U.S. Attorney Alina Habba said.
Habba was nominated for the full-time New Jersey position in March, but Democrat Sens. Cory Booker and Andy Kim used blue slips to prevent her from advancing in the chamber. Blue slips allow home-state senators to block U.S. attorney and District Court judge nominees.
Trump has called on Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, to have the “courage” to stop honoring the blue slips, but the senator has refused to budge. Also, committee member Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., has said he’d serve as a check against anyone opposed by a home-state senator even if Grassley revoked the procedure, Politico reported. […]

[…] Habba told Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo on Sunday that she and the president’s other nominees deserve floor votes.
“This tradition that Sen. Grassley is upholding effectively prevents anybody in a blue state from going through into Senate to then be voted on,” Habba told Bartiromo.
“Sen. Booker and Sen. Kim had absolutely every right to vote no for me for the U.S. Attorney position. But I had the right as the nominee to get in front of Senate and to be voted on, to be vetted. I never even got there.”
The result, Habba said, is senators from Democrat-led states can block Trump’s initiatives.
“The truth is it has nothing to do with the work that we’re doing, it has nothing to do with the crime that we’re stopping,” she told Bartiromo. “It has to do with trying to prevent President Trump from continuing his agenda, and it has to stop.
“So I would say to Sen. Tillis and Sen. Grassley, you are becoming part of the issue. You are becoming part of the antithesis of what we fought for four years.”
Trump withdrew Habba’s nomination in late July after her 120-day interim period expired and then named her acting U.S. attorney for up to 210 days under the Federal Vacancies Reform Act. […]
We just heard today about some candidates being nominated for the four federal judicial vacancies in North Carolina, as well as some US attorney posts. Nearly eight months into President Trump’s term.(It’s about time, Ted and Thom.)
Meanwhile, holdovers and appointees from previous administrations have been allowed to hang around and make as much trouble as they want. It’s as though Washington Republicans aren’t really interested in ending lawfare. It’s as though they’re not really all that interested in seeing President Trumps’ agenda succeed. They sure aren’t working very hard toward that end.
Well, Tillis has made it clear that he’s going to burn his bridges on the way out the door. *”I’ll show those voters who didn’t want to reelect me.”*
But just think, folks. The establishment is giving you the chance to send Thom’s even dumber, more amoral little brother Michael Whatley to DC to finish the job big bro’ started. (*Show some gratitude. C’mon, just a little.*)
The “R” beside Thommy Boy’s name stands for RINO. He voted for Biden’s Inflation Buster of a “So Called” Infrastructure Bill, He voted AGAINST President Trump’s “Big Beautiful bill”, and now sides with Sparticus Corey Booker and the other NJ No Name Senator>> lining up against Alina Ha-Haba. He is a never Trumper Loser Senator Forever in My Book…Put a “D” in front of Tillis’s name for that is what he is. A complete disapointment to the folks of NC that voted for him….Good Day Thommy Boy…..Go hang in Loserville with Senator Dick Burr !
