Greg Murphy: ‘We in DC are smarter than YOU.’
Congressman Greg Murphy is absolutely shameless. Despicable, too.
When the guy first ran to replace the late Walter Jones in Congress, he ran around the district thumping his Bible and claiming he had an epiphany about conservatism. Murphy carried a copy of Barry Goldwater‘s ‘Conscience of a Conservative’ everywhere he went and strongly insinuated that he would join forces with Mark Meadows, Jim Jordan and The Freedom Caucus when he got to DC.
The voters bought what Murphy was selling and elected him. As soon as he got to DC, Murphy kissed off Meadows and Jordan – who campaigned heavily for and with him — and ran into the cold, dark embrace of then-House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. From that point forward, Murphy was a sycophantic follower of McCarthy and ‘leadership.’ (He even got caught apparently assaulting Matt Gaetz from behind during the effort to oust McCarthy from the speaker’s chair.)
If you’re not on Twitter / X, you need to be. THAT is where you get a good look at the real Greg Murphy. Murphy tried to talk trash to Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC), and she responded by suggesting he has no male genitalia. Murphy tried to suggest that ‘no one has sex against their will‘, but quickly got corrected on that by his own daughter.
Now, Murphy is on social media suggesting that he and the rest of the *smart guys* in DC are being kept from doing their jobs by the riff-raff at home:
No one elected you to keep mindlessly spending our country into bankruptcy and ignoring your constitutional duty. No one elected you to keep burying us and our great-great-grands in debt. Your job title is “representative.” HOW ABOUT actually ‘representing’ the folks back home ???
Utah senator Mike Lee (R) –one of the few conservative leaders left on Capitol Hill — had a great response to Murphy’s whining:
Note to Ted Budd: THIS GUY is who you should be following around and treating like a role model. Get your nose out of Thom’s posterior.
As you contemplate all this, check out this real-time US debt clock. (It’ll make you sick.)
We’ve got a lot of readers in Murphy’s district. You folks on the conservative side of things need to unify behind a candidate. One solid candidate can take Murphy out. If you guys keep fighting with each other, Murphy will keep winning (against 12 primary challengers or simply no challengers at all).
It’s not as hard to get him as you might think.
I knew that Medicaid Murphy was not going to be the taxpayer champion that Walter Jones was, but this is ridiculous. Walter Jones was a hero who voted against spending increases, tax increases, and debt limit increases. The Third District needs to find us another Walter Jones.
It pains me to say this but Downeast North Carolina, one of the traditionally reddest parts of the state which that demon represents, has lost its way. What was once a fiercely proud, fiercely independent county is now filled with pill popping citizens AND Cherry Point losers out of disability. These folks don’t want the gravy train to end. They don’t care that their county is now swarming with illegals thanks to Ukraine First Murphy or that fentanyl is everywhere destroying their youth or that carpet bagging Northerners have slithered into the county, slowly but surely transforming it into an unaffordable progressive Wilmington 2.0. Honestly I don’t know what they care about. Moreover, I don’t understand why the money folks behind Murphy, with deep deep ties to Downeast, think all of this is okay and continue to support this arrogant globalist anti-WNC/ENC asshole.
Murphy is a symptom of the larger problem: a weak as F, lazy, stuck in the 1980s, grifty populace who continues to vote for really bad people. We, the voters, must do better. Everywhere in this cesspool state.
He’s still at mtgs saying CONSERVATIVE every other word & those in attendance clap
Like seals. He spoke recently before the election at an event & couldnt say conservative enough times. My table & those around were apprised of his voting record. I intend to hold him accountable. Radar was at that same meeting & can testify to the shenanigans!
Downeast has gone insane. Murphy is to Walter Jones is what Tillis is to Jesse Helms. Both Murphy and Tillis are beneficiaries of the 30% threshold and extremely crowded primaries. Some eastern county Repub parties are shunning and purging conservatives and natives. These party structures are constantly engaged in what used to be disloyalty. I know of one that actively worked for a Democrat in a general election that had a legitimate Republican candidate. Democrats are changing their party registrations, running as Republicans and being welcomed on executive committees as conservatives are being shoved out. Conservatives in places like this are organizing outside of the Republican Party. It’s a toxic and hostile situation that is doing a lot of political harm to down east communities.
Completely agree with you.
As I stated previously, Downeast is committing political and cultural suicide by its own apathetic, complicit hand. So unbelievably depressing. Heartbreakingly tragic as it represents what North Carolina once was.
But then again the entire conservative movement is just one big testicle-less suck in this state. Seriously. Look at who “represents” us now: weak as F quasi-Democrat men (how many times do we have to plead with Budd to grow some?) and petty testy women who go berserk if you do not ascribe to “conservative-sanctioned” identity politics.
The road ahead looks very bleak. Maybe four years of Stein will prove to be the ground zero event to shake these fools (and those supposedly on the side lines) to their milquetoast cores. We certainly shall see, won’t we!
Beaufort Co is heavily divided w/in party.
BOE and Commissioner boards are stacked R’s; but rarely act/vote conservative.
At least 2 factions of r’s w/in the county.
Neither appear to move toward the other.
One of these factions LOVES Murphy, was pro-Robinson supporter. Tends to be lib-lite in my estimation.
The North Carolina congressional and senate delegation in general is nothing to write home about. Eastern counties shouldn’t delude themselves into thinking they are a stronghold of conservatism. They are not. Compare Murphy’s voting record with the Walter Jones voting record. It’s not comparable. Don Davis? Don’t get me started.
I get reports from many counties about serious issues within their Republican organizations. I don’t know of a situation worse than Beaufort County. Anybody paying attention knows the state Republican Party has not been very credible for quite some time.
Focus past the Trump presidential win and N.C. looks like a blue state where if you do find a Republican it will more than likely turn out to be a eunuch.
Brent, this is your blog, and you’re free to shape the narrative however you see fit. That’s the beauty of owning your platform. However, it’s worth noting that Murphy is genuinely popular around here, and there’s a reason for it—he does a good job. His dedication to addressing local concerns and representing our community effectively has earned him respect from a wide range of constituents. I understand you may have your reservations or critiques, and that’s perfectly valid. Still, it’s important to acknowledge the perspective of many who appreciate his efforts. Dismissing his popularity without considering the positive impact he’s had might overlook what a significant portion of people value in his work. You might not want to hear this, but it’s the reality for many in our community. Your voice matters, but so does recognizing the broader sentiment.
UNSURE HOW you think he’s SO effective.
Please share your Top 10 ‘wins’ and heroics for him.
AGAIN, he says CONSERVATIVE every breathe UNTIL post-election NEVER to cast CONSERVATIVE votes.
He’s NO Jones, he’s NO Jesse, he’s NO Reagan. For you ‘to pretend’ he IS is blasphemous.
*THIS” post is WHY he gets elected. People that are so blind and so guluble and HAVE NO IDEA what conservatism is. And Murphy REALLY HAS NO IDEA what conservatism is.
He’s a silver-tongued hypocrite.
Brant, PLEASE CONTINUE writing and blogging about the TRUE Murphy…..
Greg Murphy is no Walter Jones or even close. He does not have the level of constituent service that Walter did, and his voting record is considerably to the left of Walter’s. It had been a more liberal record in the state legislature as well, where he was known as “Medicaid Murphy” and that has continued in Congress. He dishonestly pulled the wool over the eyes of the Freedom Caucus to get nominated for Congress in the first place. They should have looked at his state legislative record and known better. Murphy’s sleaze goes all the way back to the way he broke Republican Party rules to get himself named to the vacancy in the NC House that started his political career.
What people don’t realize is Murphy cares just about Murphy. Nothing else.
If you have a problem, don’t call his office. Call Burr.
Terrible service for the people in the Third District. Spending more time on Fox Business than working for the people.
The low heat has been on in eastern Carolina for quite some time. Now the pot is boiling, and the frogs are wondering what happened. Some still don’t know something happened.
Brent, why not find out how much time he spends on Fox. People in the past have tried to just call names. Show how he’s not serving the people.
