Budd for US Senate?
The “good conservative” candidate we were told was waiting in the wings to enter the 2022 US Senate race appears to be none other than congressman Ted Budd.
An announcement is likely to come this week. If it comes to fruition, Budd will be joining a field that already appears to include former congressmen George Holding and Mark Walker (aka “Public Official A”). Former governor Pat McCrory is also toying with jumping into the race, splitting the moderate / establishment vote with the two aforementioned former congressmen.
Wilmington-area native Lara Trump’s name has also been tossed around as a potential candidate. But that looks iffier and iffier as time goes by and more people jump in.
On the Democrat side, we appear to be looking at a field that includes state senator Jeff Jackson (D-Mecklenburg), former judge Cheri Beasley, former state senator Erica Smith, and the mayor of Beaufort.
I could get on board with Ted Budd. Would definitely be a step up from Thilli$$ or the corrupt swamp rat Burr.
Ted Budd would make a great Senator. He and Lara Trump need to agree on one conservative in the primary. We do not need our votes to be divided so a Burr or Tillis type can slip in.
This might be of those rare times when that might not happen, were both of them to enter the race. Both Trump and Budd have enough going for them that neither Walker nor some other establishment type are as likely to appeal to the average GOP primary voter.
Don’t know him, Breibart’s Sat show was pushing Walker for NC, to include former Arkansas Gov Huckabee. Amazing HOW these NC candidates get national support from ‘outsiders’.
Another huge word going around, Cooper slow-walking re-opening UNTIL GA assembly caves and expands medicade. IF the case, WHY isn’t NCGA alerting we the citizens? There is definitely a slow-walk; Cooper already stated July 4th as a ‘freedom date’;, along with Biden’s pronouncement. WHY isn’t NCGA PUSHING Cooper big time, DAILY, to re-open. Large vaccine units are closing down or down-sizing. Demand is no longer there and virus is well-contained in NC. In rural eastern NC; masks are maybe 1/5 at best. It’s hot and I see fewer people wearing masks anywhere.
The Huckster, Mike Huckabee, has endorsed more non-conservatives in primaries than he has conservatives. Anyone he pushes is automatically suspect, and that goes double when, as in the case of Walker, he is on the same wavelength as Anti-Trumper Paul Ryan, who has also endorsed Walker.
Outside of religious issues, Huckabee’s record as governor was as a big government big spender, and that tells you a lot.
FiFD-“Any of these one-on-one match ups would be a battle, but introducing three or more big names to the race means a little more calculus than combat. To that point, even if Budd were not to win the primary, he will have laid the groundwork for a statewide campaign that could support future aspirations; a consolation for giving up a safe seat in Congress to enter a competitive and expensive Senate primary.”
to read between the lines…a vote splitter to allow Pat the green light and possible block on Robinson later??? The blow back on the latter would be huge.
FIFD is getting its info from Dallas Woodhouse, as it freely admits. Woodhouse was working for Robin Hayes when Hayes was involved in getting another conservative in the race to split the conservative vote to help Tillis. Maybe he is up to the same trick here. Woodhouse is also the source of another FIFD story about Mark Robinson getting in the Senate race. Woodhouse was also once a front man for a Karl Rove operation to help Tillis. Who is Woodhouse really working for here? The Paul Ryan endorsed Mark Walker? Wishy-washy establishment politico Pat McCrory? Mitch McConnell who proclaimed he wants to “crush them [conservatives] everywhere”?

Some of the most absurd political speculation ever contrived! Ted Budd is a bonafide member of the Freedom Caucus. A conspiracy between Budd & Establishment Rinos is about as preposterous as it gets!
Someone was really desperate to cook up clickbait!
Well, someone was smart enough to smear Budd in a most effective way. Being perceived as working against Mark Robinson might be politically toxic.. Budd will have to address this if he (and McCrory) both enter, like it or not. Getting MKR’s endorsement would help.
The source of that conspiracy theory in that link is a liberal News and Observer reporter. He is either trying to split conservatives himself or is carrying water for someone who is trying to do so. Since then, FIFD has reported Mark Robinson as possibly getting in the race himself. This all smacks of a scheme to divide conservatives coming from the establishment. A bona fide conservative like Ted Budd would not be someone to do so, but there are a lot of establishment types who would. This smear smells a lot like the sort of thing that Dee Stewart has a reputation for. Is perhaps Stewart involved with either McCrory or Walker?
Ted Budd looks good to me.
Mark Robinson will be ready after a stint in the Gov. Mansion. Bide you time Mark. I expect Cooper to run and
will resign giving you the seat. Then your turn will present itself. Patience my friend.
