Moore County’s WOKE, social justice warrior public school system

Moore County is arguably one of the most loyal Republican counties in the state.  Democrats have managed,  thanks to non-partisan school board races,  to take over the county board of education.  The Democrat board members have been working hand-in-hand with our leftist superintendent to implement the Bernie Sanders / Barack Obama agenda county-wide.

They have dozens of administrative employees making two to three times what classroom teachers are making.  There are so  many administration types that the county’s “alternative school” has been partially converted to a “central office annex. ” This board has horribly mismanaged three school construction projects —  even locating one of the three between two EPA SuperFund sites.  Students are being shifted around to different schools — sometimes great distances from their homes — all for the sake of “racial and economic diversity. ”  (And, of course,  there is NEVER enough money to keep the educrats at the central office fat and happy.)

The latest hijink, which I noticed the other day during a trip to Pinecrest High School, really takes the cake.  Since the Obama years,  the radical left has been hollering about Confederate memorials and demanding their removal from public view.  Pinecrest’s auditorium has been named for some time after a former county schools superintendent — Robert E. Lee.

As a testament to the poor job Moore County Schools has done in educating the populace,  people began to accuse the school system of naming the auditorium after the famed Confederate general.  The Pilot even had to resort to publishing an article explaining that the auditorium was, indeed,  named for the former superintendent and NOT the general.

You would have thought the controversy would have ended there.  (Sadly,  it did not.)  The school system oh so quietly altered the name of the auditorium from “Robert E. Lee” to “R.E. Lee.”

(If you look closely at the white fascia at the roof line,  you can see the imprint of where the letters for “Robert E. Lee Auditorium” used to be. )

Things get interesting when you travel to the opposite end of the school to the gymnasiums.  (Yes, there ARE two.)

Here we have The Barbara A. Foxx gymnasium and The James H. Moore gymnasium.  Their names are spelled out, while Mr. Lee’s is abbreviated.  The Robert E. Lee Auditorium has had its full name spelled out on the front of the building for at least 13 years.  No one said ‘boo’ about it until our sobbing superintendent and the Democrat majority took over the school board.

Interested in fixing this out-of-control liberal laboratory?  Early voting has started.  On the primary ballot, there are two school board races.   If you want a couple of voices on the board to fight this nonsense –  vote for Robert Levy and Phillip Holmes.

There will be more incumbents to vote out and more “fighters” to replace them with in November.  But electing Levy and Holmes in this round sends a heck of a shot across the school board’s bow.

  1. That’s why you need a partisan school board. All politics are partisan. The only ones that don’t know part affiliation are the voters. Try to get your legislators to run a local bill to change school board elections to partisan. Its the best thing you can do to combat this non sense.

    1. We’ve tried that but because of zero backbone, Quis won’t do it. He’s afraid of what the Pilot will write about him. Many, many counties in NC have already put this place.

  2. For the safety of the kids at all Moore County Schools, should we do water and soil samples at at every school? It’s a fair point that we do not know what activities could have occurred at any of these school sites in the past. Shouldn’t we do these tests at each school to ensure long term health of these teachers and kids? Sure, they are not all located near Superfund sites but that doesn’t necessarily mean those sites are clean. Lead, for example, is naturally occurring and could be in the soil at any school. Chromium VI is another one.

    1. No one cares enough to check these issues at the other schools?!?! The west pine area has had a history of high Chromium VI

  3. Parents- start asking to see your child’s history lessons. If you are even partially educated on the history of this country, you WILL BE sick to your stomach to read the “history” that is being taught in our middle schools. All of the shocking news that you’ve read about in other states is 100% here in Moore County.

  4. The best means to correct the many problems with government schools is to shut them down through school choice. The Legislature and county commissioners will not spend money on empty classrooms when parents vote with their feet and choose other education options, which are plentiful.

    1. That would be great Kent but just where are we going to send our middle schoolers? There are no affordable private school options here and no charter for that age. Why don’t you stop complaining and suggesting school choice and bring some affordable options to the area? How can a mom that works homeschool? It’s 2020. Women do have jobs. So annoying the masses of ppl that just say “take your kids out of school if you care about their education.” It’s an elite, narrow minded suggestion. If you care so much, help us!

  5. Thank you for bringing much needed attention to this! Conservatives and Republicans need to wake up to what is happening in the public schools. In the future, it will not matter if your kids or grandkids are home schooled, attend a charter school or a private school. The reality is, the vast majority of children will still attend the public schools. There will be little concern if a few hundred children leave the system when a few thousand are still there. These children are absolutely being indoctrinated with Socialist propaganda and they represent the future vote. Academic education as we remember it is quickly disappearing. “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing” Get in the fight!!

  6. Yes, get rid of the rubber stamps that have wasted so much money. Fed up is correct it is so disturbing to see what our kids are learning. For those that do not know this is just an example. My daughter learned that Muslims were forced out of their holy cities by Christians! She was also told that homosexuality has been scientifically proven to be something that a person is born with! That is not something they need to discuss in school and if they are they need to present all sides but they don’t because most of the teachers were indoctrinated in college. It is despicable but this is what Wallin-Miller and the rest of the liberals want.
