Rove: Repeal the 2nd amendment

Some people really don’t know when to shut up and melt into the background.  We so did not need to hear from this guy:

11134150_850668615005131_7344841062184563056_nRepublican strategist Karl Rove said on “Fox News Sunday” the only way to stop gun-related violence, like the Wednesday massacre at Emmanuel African Methodist Church in Charleston S.C., was to repeal American citizens’ Second Amendment rights.

When Chris Wallace asked Rove how we can, “stop the violence,” the long-time gun-rights advocate stated that we have made great strides as a nation in empathizing with the victims of these types of shootings, but the only way to guarantee they will stop is to “remove guns from society.”

WALLACE: How do we stop the violence?

ROVE: I wish I had an easy answer for that, but I don’t think there’s an easy answer

We saw an act of evil. Racist, bigoted evil, and to me the amazing thing is that it was met with grief and love. Think about how far we’ve come since 1963. The whole weight of the government throughout the South was to impede finding and holding and bringing to justice the men who perpetrated the [Birmingham] bombing.

And here, we saw an entire state, an entire community, an entire nation come together, grieving as one and united in the belief that this was an evil act, so we’ve come a long way.

Now maybe there’s some magic law that will keep us from having more of these. I mean basically the only way to guarantee that we will dramatically reduce acts of violence involving guns is to basically remove guns from society, and until somebody gets enough “oomph” to repeal the Second Amendment, that’s not going to happen.

roveWow.   Never mind that some of the most crime-ridden areas of this country have the strictest gun control laws.  Never mind that most all of these high-profile massacres occurred in gun-free zones.  So, with this Charleston thing, the drivebys and the GOPe are blaming (1) the Confederate flag, and (2) the Second Amendment.  Not one mention of the mentally-deranged freak who perpetrated the crime.

How many of these types of crimes would you have, if the probability that someone in the immediate vicinity might pull out a concealed weapon and shoot the gunman increased dramatically?  Not too many, I wouldn’t think.

Our Founding Fathers thought the right to bear arms was so important to protecting our freedom from governmental tyranny that they wrote it down.  Guys like this muse about it publicly.  But don’t think for a minute that guys like Rove wouldn’t pull this repeal thing if they got the chance.  Don’t settle for repealing one freedom.  Because these people rarely stop at one.  Give them an inch, and they’ll take a mile.

Voting for Jeb Bush in 2016?  A vote for Jeb is a vote to bring Uncle Karl back into power for at least four more years.

  1. This anti-2nd amendment position of Rove should be thoroughly wrapped around any candidate Rove supports from now on. I wish we had this issue to wrap around Tillis last time. Rove candidates should be road kill.

  2. Rove is such a nit wit. How does he explain the other countries with higher gun violence who do not have a Constitution let alone a second amendment? He is a Progressive just like the other GOP “leadership” who love big government as long as they are building it.

  3. Am I the only one who actually watched Chris Wallace’s show and heard what Rove actually said ? This article going around the internet totally misrepresents what Rove said. He was not calling for a repeal of the 2nd amendment. He said the only way to get rid of guns is to repeal the second amendment, AND THAT IS NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN NOR SHOULD IT. We get mad at the left for not reporting the facts…please do not lower the Conservative movement to the gutter as well. It hurts all of us.

  4. I agree that Rove is a jerk – at best, but I would not worry. Events like those last week just strengthen the NRA’s hold on America and boost the profits of the gun industry. Why, one would almost think the NRA sponsors such events when gun sales dip.

  5. Who listens to Carl Rove? His last goat that barely slipped through the gate was Tillis. What a resume.

  6. Time for the GOP apparatus to issue a position in each county across America, rejecting Karl Rove and his anti-Constitutional pronouncements. Rove speaks for the Party, like it or not. He just said something stupid, and that the Party cannot tolerate. I hope the Moore County Republicans will come out of the tall grass, and issue that condemnation here on the Daily Haymaker. Come to think of it, why hasn’t that already happened?

  7. The article had it right. If Jeb Bush wins, Karl Rove will be back in the White House, too. Although I think I could bite my tongue it came down to Jeb Bush or “The Missus” Clinton.
I watch Fox News exclusively (and not just to see the foxes).. The only reason Karl Rove still has any relevance is that Fox keeps propping him up by having him on all the time!
