Walter Jones to Scott Dacey: ‘See You in Court.’
The bloody primary for the 3rd congressional district GOP nomination is over. But it sounds like there will be further discussions, involving lawyers and judges, between two of the campaigns involved.
Congressman Walter Jones was on Wednesday’s “Tom and Sadie” radio program talking about the election aftermath. “Tom” asked Jones about the Dacey ad alleging ties between Jones and George Soros. The host mentioned the restraining order the Jones campaign hit Dacey with, and asked where that all stood. Here’s what Jones had to say:
[…] “I’m going to pursue it. The reason I’m going to pursue it, Tom and Sadie, is for the candidates of the future. What he put in his ad was an outright lie. L-I-E. And I know politics is tough. I’ve been at it a long time. And I want to tell you, THAT I understand. But when you outright lie to the voters, you need to pay a price for it. I’ve already started talking to several attorneys, and over the next few months we’re going to look at thepossibility of taking the state law — it’s not a federal law, it’s a state law — to the courts. It’s a misdemeanor, not a felony. But I think there’s a point that needs to be made that you can use any kind of ad against a candidate, but you can’t lie.[…]
I’m glad the state of North Carolina has a law. No, I’m not going to let this go. It’s not about me but about the candidates in both parties in the future. Deal with the facts but don’t tell an outright lie. Like Dacey did.” […]
Go get ’em, Walter!
This same thing happened to Michelle Lexo by Tom McInnis. He has lied in so many mailers and speeches, how could anyone possibly trust him on anything. After election, he now is telling the news reporter “That is history now”.
He went so low to win, I will never trust or support him as my state senator.
Will the Constitution Party see an opportunity to take advantage of the bad blood that has been created from Raleigh and run a candidate in that Senate district? That could makes things quite interesting.
Walter did you forget that you lied about term limits when you were elected.
