House Republican calls out Tillis by name in spending debate
Chip Roy, a US House member from Texas, is often a reliable conservative vote. Heritage’s most current ratings have him with a perfect conservative score of 100%.
It sounds like Roy is getting as worn out by Thom Tillis as the rest of us are. (Heritage’s most recent ratings have Tillis voting to the left of socialist Bernie Sanders.)
Here’s what came out of House floor discussions on the so-called big beautiful bill this past week:
[…] Roy was equally strict about GOP senators’ hesitations on quickly phasing out clean-energy tax credits signed into law under former President Joe Biden — even calling out skeptical Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) by name in a floor speech Friday.
Tillis has been critical of the phaseouts, saying the House bill is “void of any understanding of just how these supply chains work.”
“You backslide one inch on those IRA subsidies and I’m voting against this bill,” Roy said. “Because those god-forsaken subsidies are killing our energy, killing our grid, making us weaker, destroying our landscape, undermining our freedom. I’m not going to have it.” […]
You may recall that Tillis helped introduce renewable energy mandates and subsidies to North Carolina and has helped preserve, protect, and grow them at the federal level. All that stuff is a big reason why your electrical is so big and getting bigger. (Little Timmy from Kings Mountain — Thom’s successor at speaker and now a congressman — has been right there for the solar panel people as well.)
Tillis is unelectable. If the NCGOP had the slightest bit of competence, they would be putting pressure on him to announce his retirement, or for Trump to give him some job where he would have some prestige but could not do any harm, such as ambassador to the Bahamas.
Too many Republican base voters have had a bellyfull of Thom Tillis who is constantly stabbing them in the back. With Tillis at the top of the NC ticket, it will poison the well for other races, such as judicial and legislative because many of our voters will stay home. The NCGOP desperately needs a different nominee if we are going to keep the seat. And NOT Michael Whatley either.
Considering the happenings at the NCGOP Convention, things may be bleaker than ever for North Carolina.
Tommy Boy lost my vote FOREVER >> by voting for Biden’s radical Infrastructure Bill. It was like pouring gasoline on an already inferno of SURGING INFLATION. What a disastrous vote by Senator Tillis THAT WAS !
