House Republican calls out Tillis by name in spending debate

Chip Roy, a US House member from Texas, is often a reliable conservative vote. Heritage’s most current ratings have him with a perfect conservative score of 100%.

It sounds like Roy is getting as worn out  by Thom Tillis as the rest of  us are. (Heritage’s most recent ratings have Tillis voting to the left of socialist Bernie Sanders.)

Here’s what came out of House floor discussions on the so-called big beautiful bill this past week:

[…] Roy was equally strict about GOP senators’ hesitations on quickly phasing out clean-energy tax credits signed into law under former President Joe Biden — even calling out skeptical Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) by name in a floor speech Friday.

Tillis has been critical of the phaseouts, saying the House bill is “void of any understanding of just how these supply chains work.”

“You backslide one inch on those IRA subsidies and I’m voting against this bill,” Roy said. “Because those god-forsaken subsidies are killing our energy, killing our grid, making us weaker, destroying our landscape, undermining our freedom. I’m not going to have it.” […]

You may recall that Tillis helped introduce renewable energy mandates and subsidies to North Carolina and has helped preserve, protect, and grow them at the federal level.  All that stuff is a big reason why your electrical is so big and getting bigger.  (Little Timmy from Kings Mountain — Thom’s successor at speaker and now a congressman — has been right there for the solar panel people as well.)
