Whatley’s weakness allowing Cooper to play Santa Claus for other DEM candidates

The latest fundraising reports for North Carolina’s US Senate race appear to further seal Mike Whatley‘s doom.  It seems the guy hailed by NCGOP leaders as a fabulous fundraiser is struggling to keep pace with Roy Cooper:

[…] Now Whatley, a Republican from Gastonia, and Cooper, a Democrat from Raleigh, have turned in their campaign finance reports to the Federal Election Commission.

Whatley reported raising $2 million in the most recent quarter that began July 1, while Cooper reported raising $12 million.

Whatley currently has $916,000 in cash, while Cooper has around $12.5 million.

Meanwhile, a separate campaign fund for Whatley known as a victory fund raised $253,000, while Cooper’s similar fund raised nearly $15 million.

Whatley’s victory fund had $451,316 in cash at the end of the quarter; Cooper’s victory fund had $837,756 cash on hand.
At that point, according to the report, Cooper had transferred around $17 million from his victory fund to affiliated committees during the quarter. […]

Seventeen MILLION transferred to *affiliated committees* ????

What that means, folks, is Cooper’s team feels so confident of a win that they emptied $17 million from the campaign account and sent it to the campaign coffers of OTHER Democrats!
That’s right.  A campaign – being run by the White House political office and the RNC – is so bad, so uncompetitive that it is being dismissed by Democrats.  The excuses are already coming around.
“WHO ELSE could have taken on Cooper?”  (I can rattle off five or six folks who could have run a more competitive race than Whatley has.  The reason they didn’t jump in was that we were all told Whatley was  ‘Trump’s Man.’  Vendors, consultants, fundraisers, and other operatives were told early on to not work for anyone but Whatley. Unfortunately, DC has pulled the plug on ‘Trump’s Man’ just weeks before Election Day.)
