TWO lawsuits accuse Phil Berger’s son AND Rockingham County of *government weaponization*

Considering how nasty Phil Berger‘s team got with Rockingham County sheriff Sam Page during this year’s GOP primary for state senate, a suit from Page was expected.  But there aren’t many out there who foresaw a lawsuit from Rockingham County register of deeds Ben Curtis. 

The Page complaint targets Rockingham County and county commissioner Kevin Berger individually.  The complaint by Curtis, well-known as a long-time friend and supporter of Phil Berger, targets only Rockingham County.  Despite their slightly differing targets, both complainants are alleging the use of county resources and powers against them for political purposes.

Let’s look first at the Curtis complaint:

The “sheriff”?  *Could they have perhaps been talking about sheriff Sam Page, who knocked off county board of commissioners chairman Kevin Berger’s dad in the March race for state Senate?*

Judging from a complaint filed by Page against the county AND Berger the Younger, we might be on the right track:

I’ve long maintained that the GOPe in Raleigh has become as bad as – if not worse than – the Democrats the voters threw out in 2010.  I believe stuff like this – and the ongoing corruption probes of things like Greater Carolina – will only prove me correct.
