Suffolk Poll: In NC, Trump and Burr lead
Boston’s Suffolk University polled North Carolina voters about the November election and produced some very interesting findings:
- When: Poll of 500 likely NC voters taken between 9/5 and 9/7, 4.4% margin of error
- WHO?: The pollsters actually found THREE people who had never heard of Barack Obama. (Of course, they all say they plan to vote in November.) Even worse? SIxty-seven respondents said they had never heard of Richard Burr.
- Right Track? Roughly 26 percent of respondents said they thought the country was on the right track. Sixty-one percent said WRONG TRACK.
- Approval-Disapproval: Obama is at 43-51; Clinton at 37-55; Deborah Ross at 18-16 (45% don’t know of her); Trump at 41-49; Burr at 35-29 (23% undecided)
- For President: Trump 44%, Clinton 41%, Johnson 4%, Undecided 8%.
- For Senate: Burr 41%, Ross 37%,Haugh 4%, Undecided 16%
- 2012: Respondents split almost evenly between Romney voters (45%) and Obama voters (44%).
- Safety?: Fifty-two percent of respondents said they felt less safe over the last 5 to 10 years. Thirteen percent said ‘more safe.’
- Race: White voters — 28% Clinton, 57% for Trump. Black voters — 84% Clinton, 7% for Trump
- Gender: Male — 53% Trump, 32% Clinton; Female — 36% Trump, 49% Clinton
