NC voter registrations: UNA giving DEM and REP a run for their money

The Raleigh-based  Civitas Institute has released an interesting county-by-county analysis of recent voter registration trends.  Their analysis appears to show that registering as “unaffiliated” is one of the hottest things going right now.

The analysis shows that — in reliably Republican Moore County — unaffiliated registrations are outpacing Republican registrations.  What does all of this mean?

It means the anger at the political establishment that led to the birth of The Tea Party movement is alive and well.  It means that a lot of people still see both parties controlled by big-spenders, who have no core principles, and have contempt for the people they allegedly represent.  The people trying to shove Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, and Pat McCrory down our throats need to take heed.
