He’s BAAAAAAAAAACK !!!! (Now comes the hard part.)
Now, the work that was so rudely interrupted in November 2020 can resume.
The biggest threat to accomplishing the mission? Traitors and sellouts allegedly on our side. People who have successfully separated conservative ideology from that*silly* (R) next to their names.
During Trump 1.0, Trump appointments, Trump efforts to control spending, to protect gun rights, and even the effort to build the wall on the southern border got sabotaged and taken out by stand-for-nothing republicans-in-name-only. Our very own F. Thomas Tillis aided and abetted quite a bit of that mischief.
Mealy-mouthed politicians will say anything around campaign time to keep the *peasants* happy — voting for the (R) and coughing up their hard-earned money. After the election, the media stops paying attention and the elected weasels get to go right back to servicing the special-interest lobbyists and ignoring us.
Our job does not stop at the end of Election Day nor at the end of Inauguration Day. We have to stay informed on the issues and stay on top of the elected weasels when they appear to be deviating from the positions they pledged to hold firm to.
North Carolina’s congressional delegation is loaded with loyal liberal Democrats who stick with the party line. The Republicans, however, are fine and dandy with ditching all that stuff in the party platform. The electeds, as well as the state party officials, have masterfully divorced themselves from this conservatism *nonsense.* (*Crossing the aisle* gets more love than actually adhering to the platform they campaigned on.)
Ted Budd is the only Republican from North Carolina voting to the right of the average Republican in his chamber. (He has a Tillis crony and a former Big Pharma lobbyist on his payroll, so we don’t know how long that will last.)
Everyone else — and we mean everyone — is voting to the left of the average Republican in their chamber. (F. Thom Tillis has been voting to the left of proud socialist Bernie Sanders.)
Tim Moore is a rookie (R) in DC. However, he racked up a less-than-impressive statist voting record in Raleigh’s NC House. (Medicaid expansion. Gambling. Windmills. Solar Panels.). Without some serious pressure from the voters and taxpayers, I don’t see that old dog Timmy changing his ways.
Donald Trump can promise us the moon. He can tell us all this great stuff he wants. But if we don’t hold the collective feet of our electeds to the fire, this is going to be a frustrating four years. Our elected can kill his plans, or at least water them down significantly. (Look at what Tillis and his pals did to the border wall.)
Stay on these people. Resist the temptation to swoon and give them a pass because of that (R) at the end of their names. We need to bring back the days where the (R) and conservative beliefs were not mutually exclusive.
It’s up to us. These people in DC will not take all of this seriously unless we remind them of how serious IT IS, and how serious WE ARE.
