Dallas Duties Dissolved? (*Deleterious, despicable, debauchery?*)
They create a job just for you. And then they kill it while you’re filling it. Some guys just can’t catch a break.
Dallas Woodhouse has – unintentionally, we’re sure – provided us with a lot of good material to write about.
Woodhouse is praised to high heaven as some kind of brilliant political operator. Funny thing is — he seems to get as much, if not more, media attention than his cause or candidate. The best ones I know? You never see their names or faces in the news.
Dallas had a short and sweet stint as the campaign manager for Phil Berger, Jr.‘s failed congressional campaign. He was in the middle of the coup against NCGOP chairman Hasan Harnett. He was in the middle of the 2018 circus / feeding frenzy against Mark Harris. He also provided aid and comfort to legally and ethically-challenged Robin Hayes. And who can forget that live TV election night 2014 interview?
It’s pretty clear that Dallas has a political *sugar daddy* that really, really, really wants him in the middle of The Mix — damn the consequences.
Here’s the latest hubbub:
The North Carolina Auditor’s Office has reassigned Dallas Woodhouse, its controversial elections liaison, to a new role after a series of controversies involving his influence on early voting plans.
Woodhouse, who led the state GOP from 2015 to 2019, was hired into the new role last year with a salary of $110,000 after Auditor Dave Boliek gained control over appointments to election boards.
His position, which had never existed when the governor had control over election boards, was intended to act as a liaison with the 100 county election chairs across the state and “ensure election integrity.” […]
As a long-time Dallas observer, I had some skepticism about this new job. Dallas has always been a gung-ho GOP partisan. He’s about fighting Democrats. Was he the right guy to ensure a process is fair to all voters, regardless of registration?
All of these changes are getting forced through. But, remember – the Democrats will one day come back into power in our fair capital city. Will this power grab come back to bite the NCGOP in the butt when that day arrives? (The Dems will have all this new power if and when they come back into power, too.)

[…] However, as local boards prepared for the midterms, news of Woodhouse’s involvement in early voting plans drew scrutiny.
Last month, Republican officials in Jackson County said they had been pressured by the GOP and the auditor’s office to reject an early voting site on Western Carolina University’s campus. In texts obtained by NC Local, Woodhouse told the chair “don’t let them have a vote” about the plan.
And in Pasquotank County, Woodhouse told the board chair to “drop Sunday,” according to a text message obtained byCommon Cause NC, a voting rights group.
Woodhouse’s reassignment was announced last week in an email to the board chairs, which The News & Observer has obtained. It does not state why he has been transferred or what his new role will be.
Randy Brechbiel, a spokesperson for the auditor’s office, said the elections liaison positions has been discontinued.
“Now that we are more than a year past appointments, and board chairs have settled into their roles having worked through a municipal election, primary election, and most of the local boards have passed early voting plans for the general election, the Auditor’s Office has discontinued the elections liaison role,” he said. “The elections liaison was established because the Auditor’s Office gained new responsibilities. The position was not meant to be permanent.”
Brechbiel said Woodhouse’s new position will be “working on strategic initiatives that relate to constituent services and communications.”
Dallas was pushing what the NCGOP wants. Not necessarily what the law says or what’s good for the residents of our fair state.
This illustrates one of the problems Boliek will face. BergerWorld – faced with their godfather’s impending January exit from elected politics – is looking for a new home. Boliek is loaded up with all kinds of BergerWorld alumni – such as Brechbiel – seeking a new home. As many longtime watchers of Jones Street know, everything in BergerWorld is about partisan politics first.
It will be interesting to see how all of the alums make that adjustment. So far, it’s not looking promising.

Woodhouse is NOT and was NOT a good choice for this position, even though this position was specially designed for him. This man is a runaway train destined to crash. I just hope that he doesn’t take out Boliek and the rest of the GOP with him. This “political favor” is going to bite Boliek in the ass.
