Crying in Harris-Teeter: A deep dive into the Chuck Edwards ethics probe

You know things must be bad for Chuck Edwards.  Senator Ted Budd is the farthest thing from being an adventurous risk-taker.  But he is apparently the first BIG state Republican to step out and call for Chuck Edwards to drop his reelection campaign.

The US House Ethics Committee has called for Edwards to be censured – one step below the most severe penalty available: EXPULSION.

We thought it was fair to provide our readers with access to all the material the committee had at its disposal.  Click HERE.

There are three links at the bottom of the above linked page.  The committee report is basically what you’ve already seen in the media and read about here.

The committee also provided some exhibits – photos and printouts of text messages.  Those can be found by clicking on Appendix A  on this page.

Appendix B on the same page is the response from the Edwards team to the ethics report.

According to the committee report, there were all kinds of people close to the situation who seriously believed Edwards was having affairs with these young female staffers.

Again, this is a married congressman texting two female aides who are about 30+ years his junior.

Some of this stuff is just tough – from the perspective of the Edwards team – to explain. Like THIS from Appendix A, Exhibit 2:
