As a member of the GOP caucus in the North Carolina House, I get regular emails from the speaker’s office.  This one today was a real hoot:

Dear Members –
I wanted to catch you all today before you left Raleigh for the weekend. As many of you know, Speaker Moore’s official portrait will be installed next week in the House chamber before we adjourn sine die for the year.

For those of you who will not be able to attend the installation ceremony, there will also be an opportunity for you to see the portrait in person this weekend at the official unveiling ceremony at the new $5 million Speaker Tim Moore Wing of the Kings Mountain Public Library, Saturday 9/26 1-3 pm. BBQ and soft drinks will be served as well as entertainment for the kids and craft beer and games of chance for the adults! Your families are invited too.

For those of you unable to attend either event due to prior commitments, I am attaching an image of the portrait, which was painted by Miss Consuela Munoz of the Dominican Republic. The portrait committee has decided that each member should contribute $100 to help offset the artist’s costs and Rep. Dollar’s office will be contacting you all over the next few days to get a check. Please make all checks payable to cash.
