Yolanda deployed to try and right the Robinson ship

It’s an interesting ploy.  Not the first time seasoned politicos have seen it, though.  A troubled male politician inserts his wife at the campaign’s center stage to attempt to smooth over his image and help the voters *forget* whatever he has been alleged to have done. 

Here is Yolanda Hill in a video released by the campaign:

But will it work? Recent polling has put Democrat Josh Stein‘s lead in the gubernatorial race at anywhere from 5 to 14 percent. That’s a lot of ground to make up in a short time. (Election Day is November 5.)

It’s interesting to see that she is using the name “Yolanda Robinson” now.  That’s been rare in the couple’s 34 year marriage.  In fact, she’s currently registered to vote as “Yolanda Hill.”

What’s really interesting about her stepping out in the campaign?  She is at the center of the controversy – the whole Balanced Nutrition affair – that could do the most serious damage to her husband and his political ambitions.

The current hubbub is all about crude, rude and insensitive words. Balanced Nutrition could steer things into more of a criminal / legal arena.  In addition to Balanced Nutrition, there also needs to be some transparency and frankness and openness about the paycheck protection loans and the payer for the luxury beachfront vacation at Virginia Beach.
