Voting uninformed? Blowing off voting? You deserve what you get.
We’re getting reports about a disturbing level of Democrat enthusiasm for voting this year. Check out what one of my top moles reports about the scene here in Moore County:
We’re talking about one of the reddest, most-dependable counties in the state. Some of you may say: “It’s primary season. So what?”
Many counties – like ours – still have non-partisan contests like school board, for instance. That’s a great way for liberals to sneak into positions of power in places that are overwhelmingly GOP. That task becomes a lot easier for them if the majority Republicans / conservatives in the county don’t show up to vote.
It’s disturbing to see how many people — who make an effort to vote — prepare to do so by glancing over a pre-marked sample ballot a few moments before entering a polling place. I’ve had people quiz me about who to vote for moments before they enter the polling place. Do some work. Read this site. Talk to a few people you know pay more attention than you do.
So many people shed blood, died, or went to jail to earn or protect the right to vote. And here we now have people selling their vote for the price of a hot dog or simply relying on a pre-marked sample ballot somebody gave them.
Voter apathy / non-participation are what led to the Pinehurst Village Council being overrun and taken-over by a small cabal of loons on a jihad against private property rights. They view tourists as a great menace to our community. Never mind that we’re a world-renowned tourist destination and tourism is pretty much our only industry.
And don’t get me started on the Moore County Board of Education. Its elections are non-partisan. (Soon, that is going to change.)
Boards are meant to be forums for raising questions, learning information, and fostering transparency. Yet so many — such as the board of trustees at Sandhills Community College, so many HOA boards out there, and so many county school boards have become rubber stamps for whatever the professional staff wants.
On corporate boards, members are elected to represent the desires of investors. Governmental boards should also be representing the investors – aka taxpayers — over the paid staff.
For a little while, we had some tough questions being asked of the school staff. Then, a PR campaign got stirred up (with the help of our local drive-by rag) alleging that things were getting too loud, mean and discourteous. Things need to be more diplomatic, we were told. Leave the decision-making to all of those *experienced* bureaucrats.
We got some real doozies elected to the school board as a result of that deviously deceptive PR campaign. Like Amy Dahl, a former science teacher who insists on being called *doctor.* She used to be a regular fixture at the school board meetings’ public comment time. Here she is at one meeting declaring that the then-board chairman’s insistence on teaching kids that there are only two genders was an *abuse of power.* (That’s right. She was a SCIENCE teacher. If you listen to her remarks, she actually seems to be making the case that LGBTQIA-xyz are all actually examples of birth defects.)
Low turnout coupled with a horrible, practically non-existent campaign by her opponent got *Dr. Abuse-of-Power* elected to the school board for a four-year term.
And here we have the new school board chairman DOCTOR Robin Calcutt ranting about the conservative majority on the county board of commissioners threatening our *democracy.* On the video, you can hear her get corrected by board of commissioners chairman Nick Picerno: *We live in a republic, and not a democracy.*.
(Listen to the Pledge of Allegiance. *…To the republic , for which it stands …*)
Ms. Calcutt attempted to argue, but backed off — promising to go review her “history” lessons.
Ms. Calcutt is a career public school bureaucrat who campaigned as The Great White Hope for saving our public schools. (Though, it seems she can’t make it through five minutes of a board meeting without the aid of the board attorney.).
Yet, she and *Dr Abuse-of-Power* now have our kids secured tightly in their iron grip. All thanks to voter apathy and low-turnout from the county’s overwhelming conservative electorate.
You may not have kids in school. You might think that race has nothing to do with you. But consider THIS: These people on that board are overseeing the training and education of the people who will be taking care of us and running this state and country in the not-so-distant future.
You don’t want a say in how that training and education is carried out?
Don’t fall for any more of this *civility* talk. The Founding Fathers had to get loud. So did the folks fighting for civil rights.
The left’s idea of *civility* is you being quiet while they empty your wallet, run over you, and finish off our culture.
Do some research. Do some thinking. Be smart. Vote not just for yourself, but also for future generations.

This school board primary will be one of the most consequential elections in recent memory for the Moore County Board of Education.
Our district is facing major capital decisions — from Carthage Elementary to a new high school — and the current board has struggled to provide clear, decisive governance.
A Board of Education is not an administrative body. It is a governance board. Its role is oversight, fiscal responsibility, and long-term planning.
Right now, the board lacks independent oversight. With the exception of David Hensley and Pauline Bruno — who is not seeking reelection — there is little balance in perspective.
Jim Pedersen and I are not career educators. We are community leaders who understand accountability, budgeting, and strategic planning.
Moore County Schools need steady governance, common sense oversight, and a board willing to ask hard questions before major commitments are made.
In this vote-for-two primary, we respectfully ask for your support for both Jim Pedersen and David Norris.
