Tillis continues to roll over, play dead on Biden nominees

Thom Tillis and his running buddy Richard Burr fell all over themselves to endorse Michael Regan,  Roy Cooper’s NC DEQ secretary, to be Joe Biden’s EPA administrator.  I checked their respective party registrations.  They’re both still Republicans — even though they are surrendering on just about everything The White House wants.

Tillis is the latest.  He has endorsed Biden’s nominee, Garland Merrick, for attorney general:

[…] “Merrick Garland has an outstanding record serving our country and has a deep understanding of the law. He served as Deputy Assistant Attorney General for the Criminal Division at the Department of Justice as well as 19 years on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit where he eventually served as Chief Justice. His experience reflects his wide-based legal knowledge and his unbiased application of the law, with a longstanding reputation of bipartisanship, which is why he has earned the respect from both Democrats and Republicans. After talking to him and participating in his confirmation hearing, I have no doubt he will serve with integrity, keeping the best interest of our great country in mind with every decision he makes, and will respect the constitutional rights and liberties of all Americans. Given his outstanding record and commitment to the rule of law, I look forward to supporting his confirmation.” […]

Did you watch any of Merrick’s hearing?  His most popular answer to senators’ questions was “I don’t know.”  (*I guess that is the wide-based legal knowledge Tillis is referencing.*)

Richard Burr appears to have gotten the message about advise-and-consent, and acting like an honest-to-goodness member of the Loyal Opposition.  Burr has “expressed concern” about Biden’s tranny pick for asst DHHS secretary,  DHHS secretary AND surgeon general.  (He is, however, blessing Biden’s pick for Education secretary. )

Of course,  Burr declared the impeachment of President Trump unconstitutional, and then voted FOR IT.  So,  you never know what you’re going to get from him until the bitter end.

If you choose to play nice with Dems on their nominees,  they will not return the favor when the GOP takes back The White House.  They have raked GOP nominees over the coals for as long as I can remember.  (And I have quite a memory.)

What good is it to have a GOP senator if he’s going to praise and endorse (and vote FOR) every nominee the Democrats send up to The Hill? A Democrat senator would do that.  The ONLY reason Thom Tillis got elected to a second term was a belief among voters that he would fight extreme left nominees put forward by Democrats and fight hard for GOP nominees.  (Ask GOP judicial nominee and Raleigh resident Tom Farr just how hard  Tillis fought for him.)
