The Ojeda factor (Meet your new congressman.)

I was never a Richard Hudson fan.  But I am really surprised that this guy – the head of the House Republican campaign committee — was caught so off-guard that he had NO IDEA he was in trouble.  (He was on Fox News just days before the election claiming that neither he nor the House Republican majority were in danger.)

I remember reading early on about Richard Ojeda.  He had been elected to the West Virginia legislature.  Ojeda led a statewide teachers strike at that time and also introduced legislation legalizing marijuana.

He ran a competitive but losing congressional campaign in West Virginia. And he ran a quixotic, short-lived campaign for president.

I remember reading about this guy and thinking he might be a threat to Hudson.  But Hudson’s campaign didn’t seem worried.  Neither did the state GOP. So, I stuck this on the back-burner.

*Just another kook who will be forgotten a few days after the election.*

Ojeda has also had a video podcast where he said some pretty outrageous things.

Here’s Ojeda talking about the incoming White House chief of staff:

[…] Democrat Richard Ojeda, who defeated Rep. Richard Hudson (R-NC), chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), in Tuesday’s midterm elections, expressed a willingness to physically assault President Donald Trump’s deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, saying he would be happy to go to jail for doing so.

“Stephen Miller needs to be thumped. That guy’s a friggin’ worm,” Ojeda said. “I would be willing to go to jail for. I mean, how much would I get for just cracking him a couple times?”

“You know, I’d be willing to go to jail to kick the shit out of him,” Ojeda continued. “I’d be more than happy to find myself in an elevator with him, and I’d whoop his ass from the first floor to the fifth floor, and be happy to go to jail.” […]

Here he’s calling for an armed uprising against the Trump administration:

Here he is taking on former a former Trump national security adviser:

And here’s an Ojeda campaign sign that just might violate federal regulations, if not the law.  From what I understand, you can’t use a military uniform as a prop in political advertising. Some believe it can create the appearance of the Pentagon endorsing your candidacy.

Hudson’s campaign failed BIG TIME in alerting us about this guy.  The media had some responsibility to inform its viewers / readers about this stuff.

Our local Moore county ad rag had nothing. The N&O dispatched a four-named DEI hire post-election to coo over Ojeda’s Latin heritage.

It’s funny. Just two years ago, the Raleigh media and its co-conspirators thought it was extremely important to inform us about violent-sounding online comments by Republican candidate Michelle Morrow.

Morrow was a housewife from the Raleigh suburbs.  Ojeda has been a lot more specific plus he has lethal military training to back up his talk.

It’s going to be a loooooooooooong two years, folks.
