The Laurie Story: New TV ad says Laurie Buckhout claim of Trump support FALSE

Laurie Buckhout apparently imagined a Trump shout-out at least once before.  Anything’s possible in this GOP race to pick a November opponent for incumbent congressman Don Davis.

Buckhout – a recent arrival to the district – was the GOP nominee for the NC-01 seat in the US House in 2024.  Despite Donald Trump’s presence at the top of the ticket, she lost a close one to Davis in November.

She had lots of DC help in 2024, but that doesn’t seem to be the case for 2026. However, Buckhout is clinging tightly to the Trump mystique as she campaigns.

Carteret County sheriff Asa Buck is emerging as Buckhout’s top foe in the GOP primary.  Running to Buckhout’s right, he’s been aggressively criticizing her on the campaign trail and in candidate forums.

The Buck team reports they’ve received a pledge of neutrality from The Trump White House regarding the First District primary. Even so, Buckhout’s marketing strategy ties her tightly to Trump in a manner that might make voters think she’s been blessed by The Commander in Chief.

The Asa Buck campaign has launched a new ad criticizing Buckhout and questioning her over-the-top use of Trump’s image in her marketing — suggesting she might be trying to mislead voters.
