National Journal: Scott, Gowdy are SC’s most conservative in U.S. House, DeMint ranks 10th in Senate

If you check National Journal’s conservative effectiveness rankings for the U.S. House, you will find The Palmetto State’s most right-leaning legislators tying for 80th place out of 435.  Republicans Trey Gowdy  and Tim Scott each earned scores of 66 on economic issues, 83 on social issues, and 75 on foreign policy votes for a composite score of 79.7.  Congressman Joe “You Lie!” Wilson checks in at 110th place out of a possible 435.

On the Senate side,  Jim DeMint — a favorite of The Tea Party — was ranked 10th out of a possible 100.  He scored 72 on his economic votes, 88 on his social issue votes, and 89 on foreign policy (for a total composite score of 86.2).   DeMint’s GOP colleague Lindsey Graham was ranked 42nd out of a possible 100.  Graham scored 63 on his economic votes, 62 on his social issue votes, and 56 on foreign policy (for a total composite score of 60.8).
