It’s not Red v. Blue. It’s not (R) v. (D). It’s about BIG government v. LIMITED government.

The economy is on everyone’s mind this election season.  No one likes having to take an armored car full of cash with them to the gas station or grocery store.  Stuff costs too much.  Why is that?

Republicans want to call it ‘Bidenomics’ and lay it all at Joe and Kamala’s feet.  Democrats want to blame it all on so-called “corporate price-gouging.” There’s enough blame to assess against many on BOTH SIDES. 

Inflation happens when too much new money gets introduced into the economy.  Here’s one of the remaining few wise men in Congress –  Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky) — explaining this part to all of us:

It also happens when the costs of production increase.  A business’s job is to serve its customers and make money in spite of the government.  It’s really hard to make money and keep prices down when government regulators are busy making it harder to stay in compliance.

Raise the minimum wage for workers?  Mandate paid days off for maternity and / or paternity? Continuously tinker with the mixture of chemicals that go into the production of gasoline?  Mandate increased usage of solar and wind energy and decreased usage of “fossil fuels”? 

ALL that stuff adds to the cost of producing the gas we buy for our cars, the food we buy to put on our tables, and the items we buy to clothe our kids.

It’s a challenge for businesses to control their costs, and to keep folks employed, when government actions keep increasing the cost of keeping the doors open.

It’s not just Democrats voting for things like that. In DC, roughly one-third of Republicans in the US House and Senate regularly vote with Democrats on legislation that grows the size of government and increases the cost of producing the goods we need to live and survive.

Heritage Action is one of the few groups left that still rates the conservatism of Members of Congress.  According to their most recent research, ALL of the Republicans North Carolina keeps sending to the US House — except Dan Bishop — regularly vote to the left of the average House Republican.  

That’s right.  Quite a few of those folks with the (R) at the end of their name campaign down here as conservatives then run right back to DC to give party leadership and the lobbyists all the spending they could possibly want. And that comes at the expense of our livelihoods and the futures of our children. 

Don’t just blame it on DC.  Republicans have been controlling Raleigh since 2010.  Most of them have been doing their darnedest to aid and abet the growth of BIG government too.

North Carolina still has one of the nation’s highest gasoline taxes in the nation.  Lots of businesses across North Carolina use a lot of gas to produce their products and get them to market so they can be sold to us.  Those businesses have to make money.  If government keeps costly regulations and taxes in place, those extra costs get passed on to us as consumers.  Backing off on taxes and regulations could make those trips to the grocery store and gas station a lot less painful.  But the lobbyists will not allow it to happen.

Thom Tillis introduced solar and wind power mandates to North Carolina while he was in the  NC House.  These alternative sources of energy are much more expensive than coal-powered method utilities have been using. When utilities are forced to use more expensive methods like solar or wind, power bills go up.  Business and residential customers pay more. That’s more money out of some of the state’s bigger and smaller wallets.  Supporting wind and solar power mandates has proven to be quite lucrative for politicians. Tim Moore and Phil Berger and their legislative accomplices have had their pockets stuffed repeatedly — at our expense. 

Lots of Republicans in Raleigh voted to expand the Medicaid *customer* base.  More folks qualify, and more government money will be disbursed.

Legislative leaders told us we had billions of surplus revenue left over.  That means they over-taxed us big time.  The honorables could have found ways to get that money back to us or to give us some relief at the grocery store and gas pump.  But, no.  The lobbyists had to be appeased.  The spending had to continue.

Make no mistake.  November 5th is a huge election.  The Trump agenda is going to play a major role in helping us avoid falling deeper into this current fiscal sinkhole.  If Cackling Kamala somehow makes it into the Winner’s Circle, not much else is going to matter.  We’re going to get an up-close and personal look at Third-World life. 

It’s fine if you want to vote all of the (R)s on your ballot iN.  The work doesn’t stop there.  You have to stay on top of these grifters and charlatans to ensure they comprehend and carry out The Gospel of Limited Government.  (The first part is pointless, if you’re not going to aggressively pursue the second part.)

The livelihoods of our families, and the survival of our nation, depend on it.
