Experiencing a little DAN time
It seems like ages since conservative lions Jesse Helms and Lauch Faircloth rode off into the sunset. Conservatives were spoiled for a while with Mark Meadows in the US House. Since Helms left in 2002, most of our NC Republican “leaders” have been the weakest, most spineless species of snowflake. Meadows left us in the twilight of the Trump administration. What were we to do, then?
Dan Bishop has been the answer to our concerns. The Charlotte conservative came to us in the wake of the horrid GOPe / DEM – spawned and -executed hit job on Mark Harris in 2019. Instead of laying down in the laps of wimpy Raleigh and Charlotte establishment types, Bishop has jumped enthusiastically into the arms of the House Freedom Caucus – basically picking up where Meadows left off.
Many a GOPe type joined the Democrats in badmouthing the speaker vote stalemate at the beginning of this congressional session.

Dan Bishop was an indisputable leader among the twenty holdouts who kept American politicos holding their breath through a historic 14 rounds of leadership votes in the US House. Bishop was out front in the negotiations that led to some of the more surprising conservative concessions Team McCarthy has agreed to. Without guys like Bishop, we’d likely be banging our heads on the wall – again – moaning about being screwed over by RINOs. (Kind of like we’re presently doing in regard to those oh-so-weak Raleigh Republicans.)
I had a chance to catch up with Dan Bishop recently to get his take on the goings-on on Capitol Hill.
A slide toward authoritarianism. Bishop said one of the more surprising and disturbing things he’s discovered during his time on Capitol Hill is the willingness many on both sides of the aisle have to embrace heavy-handed governmental tactics. He has been working with Matt Gaetz (R-FL) on a review of the files of the January 6 committee.
Bishop said that effort has revealed a shocking willingness of the private sector to aid and abet partisan government-fueled crackdowns on private citizens. All sorts of personal information on private individuals was willingly and enthusiastically surrendered, to the J6 investigators by private companies, as part of building cases against critics of the federal government, Joe Biden, and the Democrat Party.
Those revelations helped lead Bishop, Jim Jordan and other Freedom Caucus members to aggressively investigate, and seek solutions for, government weaponization.
Bishop applauded efforts by The Epoch Times, Tucker Carlson and other conservative media sources to publicize footage of the January 6 episode at The Capitol. The congressman said he’d like to see some sort of online distribution method that would allow anyone and everyone who wanted to look at all the footage to do so at their convenience.
Priorities. Bishop said he’d like to see some tougher stances by Republicans on things like the debt ceiling and overall fiscal constraint. Both of those items were key elements of the negotiated agreement that led to the end of the speaker vote stalemate. 
Judging by what we’re now seeing and hearing, we’re getting a lot tougher talk from House Republicans than we’ve had in the past.
Bishop said the House Freedom Caucus, of which he is a member, is championing the prioritization of spending cuts before any serious discussion about the debt ceiling.
Bishop said he’d like to see some constructive solutions aimed at ending the cooperative censorship efforts uncovered by The Twitter Files. We’ve learned that federal authorities have been actively working with social media companies to crack down on government critics while also disseminating their very own propaganda / disinformation to the American people.
Bank bailouts. Bishop is not a big fan of using tax dollars to rescue large corporations who have made dumb decisions with other people’s money. Two recent examples of that phenomenon are Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank. Both embraced the ESG (Environment, Social, and Governance) political / investment strategy, and aggressively courted business from very-risky startups.
The congressman concedes it is not likely a GOP 
House can stop bank bailouts right now: “The Senate likely won’t cooperate, and The Federal Reserve operates independently.”
A conservative minority — which includes Bishop — has made significant gains in DC by using their 20 votes as leverage. One has to wonder how long it will take for conservatives on Raleigh’s Jones Street — IF there are any — to realize they can do the same thing.
Thank God for Dan Bishop and thank you ,Dan Bishop, for being who you are.
Dan is a true Conservative. The other Republicans should take note. If you don’t have Dan’s principals and values don’t run for office. It’s Time to take back our country not be a Rino! Thank you Dan Bishop, you are making a Huge Difference!
The fact is pure and simple, AND there is no EFFECTIVE argument to the contrary, that Rinoism coupled with Leftism has placed “We the People” deep in the JAWS of Communism.
