#ncga: A mailbox FULL of swamp crap
The special interests are going wild with these campaign mailers. (I’m told they are going out to constituents of several Republican legislators close to leadership. Names of candidates and pictures are being switched out. But everything else is cookie-cutter.)
Here in Moore County, our state senate race is getting a lot of attention from special interests, lobbyists and other money-guzzling residents of The Raleigh swamp. For those of you keeping score at home — We’ve already heard TWICE from the Senate GOP caucus.
We’ve heard ONCE from the lobbyists for homebuilders. We’ve also heard from the NC Chamber.
Yesterday, our mailboxes were treated to THREE — count ’em — mailers paid for and mailed by denizens of the swamp in defense of senator Tom McInnis, who is locked in a tight, tight, tight primary with Whispering Pines mayor Michelle Lexo. We’ve been thrown into a new senate district with some other counties McInnis has represented. But we don’t know him. As far as we’re concerned, it’s an open seat.
Mailer ONE pulled from the mailbox yesterday was from “Mainstreet Merchants for a Better NC.” THAT is a PAC affiliated with the lobbying arm of the NC Retail Merchants Association.
Mailer TWO was from — again — the tax increase-loving, illegal alien-coddling North Carolina Chamber. They tried to be tricky with this mailer by concealing their name. The address on the mailer, however, (701 Corporate Center Drive Suite 400 Raleigh, NC 27607) is for the offices of the NC Chamber. The flier also features a “NC Chamber seal of approval” graphic – separated from the return address.
Mailer THREE was, once again, from our “friends” at the North Carolina Republican Senatorial Committee — the affiliated committee controlled by Phil Berger and his friends in the Senate GOP Caucus.
So, that’s a grand total of THREE from Berger and the boys, ONE from the homebuilder lobbyists, ONE from the retail merchants lobbyists, and TWO from the tax increase-loving, Common Core-praising, illegal alien-coddling North Carolina chamber.
The folks in Raleigh who feed at the trough filled with our tax dollars sure do seem afraid of lil’ ol’ Mrs. Lexo from Whispering Pines.
None of this means Michelle Lexo is bad for business or the GOP agenda. Sounds like some folks in Raleigh think she’s bad for business-as-usual.
The mailboxes in the 3rd Congressional District are also full of swamp crap, but it is coming from one source, a Super PAC that specializes in attacking the most conservative candidate in a race for allegedly not being a conservative. It started doing that against Ted Cruz in the Iowa primary in 2016. Its latest target is Walter Jones. Its name is Americans United for Values. Here is a more complete story on it:

If you want someone who owes his soul to the Raleigh insiders and the special interests, then McInnis is clearly your guy. If you want someone who votes liberal on key issues like bathroom privacy and corporate welfare for the corrupt wind and solar special interests, then McInnis is your guy.
If you want someone who will stand up for local citizens and taxpayers, you need to make a change in the primary.
To amplify Raphael’s comments. there is a barrage of gross vitriol showing up in the Greenville Daily Reflector and on local TV. Total deceit and trash!!!! It is 100% opposite of who Walter Jones is. He is such a staunch advocate for our military. He recently corrected false accusations against two military pilots blamed for a helicopter crash that the military had falsely charged and hung out to take the blame. And he votes against unnecessary spending, often against establishment Rinos and Democrats who spend like there is no consequence.
He is a man of strong moral and fiscal values and has well represented his people.
This is the third time straight that the establishment has gone after Walter Jones in the 3rd Congressional District. In each campaign cycle the opposition has been extremely well funded and far fetched, but this time around is breaking all records for lying. I wouldn’t vote for Scott Dacey to clean my bathroom. I sure as heck don’t want the sleaze ball representing the people that own him using my district for his way in.
I guess anybody can fly under a party banner thee days if there is enough money behind him.
It seems as though some people are bent on supporting Lexo regardless of her views. She has been anti development in Whispering Pines, passing city codes restricting building. On two occasions, she has put forth her concerns on gun magazine sizes, but of course the Moore County crowd don’t want to hear that, they have their blinders on. McInnis is A rated with the NRA and Pro Life groups. Ms. Lexo will not be A rated with the NRA.
You go tell ’em Richmond Boy! I passed that bill against hunting in Richmond County, and the NRA still supports me. They are right in my pocket! I don’t want anybody hunting anywhere near my land, sorry about kickin’ that guy’s dog. Guess it was that special Richmond County tagging coyotes bill they liked.
Betcha that Lexo gal doesn’t even know what a magazine is! Probably thinks she reads them while she’s gettin’ her hair done! All her bragging about how much building is going on in Whispering Pines, why my neighbor is building a new outhouse as I write.
Just vote for me and I’ll work on getting Moore County up to Tier One status just like the rest of District 25!
The NRA only rates those in office, based on their votes.
It also prostitutes itself to incumbents and the establishment.
I look to the endorsements of Gunowners of America for federal and Grassroots North Carolina for state candidates. Both groups look at how strong a candidate is on gun rights, not whether they are an incumbent or part of the establishment.
NRA’s endorsement of Tillis in the primary over Brannon is a good example of how there endorsements cannot be trusted.
