#ncga: Threats, a primary, and a lawsuit.

You wonder why more people don’t throw their hats in Raleigh’s poltiical ring. Dare County Republican Beverly Boswell campaigned as a conservative and has served as a conservative.  She hasn’t minced words.  And that has made her a lot of enemies.

The ACLU and their environmental wacko allies are coming after her with a lawsuit demanding documentation of EVERY communication and interaction she has ever had with anyone in her district.  She’s picked up a primary challenge from a GOPe-type.     Here her opponent is explaining why he got into politics:

[…] I served as the vice-chair of the Currituck Chamber of Commerce for a few years. When I left, I was invited to join the board of the Northeast Workforce Development Board (NWDB). During my first meeting, they made me chairman. I chaired the NWDB for five years.

Some people call up and ask how I’d feel running for the Board of Commissioners. To be honest, I hadn’t even contemplated it. The idea didn’t really cross my mind. But I investigated further and thought it was something I could probably do, so I decided to run.

I went to every meeting for almost a year and watched how things worked. David Griggs, who was the previous chairman, decided he wasn’t going to run again, so I ran unopposed… which was great. That made things much easier.

I won my election, got inaugurated and five minutes later they made me chairman. So here I am. […]

*Holy second-coming-of-Thom-Tillis, Batman!*

*Can’t you just feel the passion — the conservative principles?*

Now, it appears the peace-and-love crowd in Boswell’s district is showing their true selves:

The Liberal Left is a tolerant, compassionate, peace-loving bunch – at least that’s what they’d have you believe. Evidence to the contrary appears almost daily, perhaps exemplified best by the violent Antifa movements that seek to shut down dissenting voices or risk a beat down by a mob of masked cowards.

Far from being limited to the most hardcore of activists, political violence, or the suggestion thereof, oozes from all sorts of regular folks. A recent example of this is the case of one Ms. Holly Gibson, and her post in the Currituck County Political Forum Facebook group that someone should suffocate Rep. Beverly Boswell (R-Dare) with a plastic bag.

Now, there’s no telling what Rep. Boswell did to trigger Ms. Gibson. After all, Boswell well is a consummate conservative that likely triggers the Left with her mere existence. Judging by Gibson’s Facebook page (complete with ‘F*ck Donald Trump’ memes), though, Boswell’s profile picture of her holding a gun and demonstrating her commitment to the Second Amendment is probably what sent Gibson over the edge.

Gibson caps off a rant about the ‘divisive’ and ‘toxic’ Facebook forum by writing, “If there is a God a plastic bag will suffocate this bitch,” whole sharing a Boswell’s gun-toting profile picture.[….]

  1. This is the dirty work of Head Solar Goon Bob Steinburg and his hench-women.

He never could buy off true conservatives like Boswell and Cook to join his corrupt renewable energy crusade. So he recruited this guy against Boswell and he is running for Cook’s old seat.

His whole game plan is to make sure Northeastern North Carolina has no conservatives representing the area in the legislature.

Everybody will be an “R”. But the “R” will stand for Renewable Energy not Republican.

    1. Actually Steinburg is not running for Cooks old seat in the sense as Cook represented it. Cooks home county of Beaufort was put into another district..And had that not happened the question would be would Cook run again.

Funny how you havent mentioned that Cook’s candidate that he recruited was a donor and host of a fundraiser just last year for Roy Cooper.

We all can have some we like in politics but no Republican should be supporting Clark Twiddy for anything.

Just facts but some here arent interested in those.

      1. No Republican should be supporting a Solyndra Republican like Eddy Goodwin, Bob Steinburg, or this Hanig dude for anything. They are more in tune with Barack Obama’s green energy legacy than with the NC Republican platform. In fact, might as well let the Democrats have any of those seats as one of the Solyndra Republicans. Damn the difference..

Bill Cook was screwed out of his district at the behest of the Big Solar / Big Wind special interests because he was a knowledgable legislator with a utility background who stood up against their scams. Phil Berger participated in that gerrymander which is one reason I would never vote for Phil Berger for anything. And the special interests had their despicable whore Steinburg lined up to take the seat. Good thing Twiddy is running.

That Cooper contribution stuff was rehashed on this site a couple of months ago, and those contributions were made in cycles when Cooper was not a candidate for office with GOP opposition, and appear to me more shakedowns by Cooper than anything else. Cooper is prone to that like his corrupt caper of shaking down that pipeline company for millions.

We need to tell Big Solar and Big Wind to go pound sand. No Goodwin,. No Steinburg. No.Hanig. They are fake Republicans

        1. Sorry John but you are incorrect. Anna Twiddy (Clark’wife) was event chair for a Roy Cooper fundraiser in October 2016 just prior to the November election where McCrory was running against Cooper for Governor. Clark actually wrote out the check

          1. If you will check the records, you will find that, in fact, Clark Twiddy was a fairly substantial contributor to the McCrory campaign, as well as to quite a number of other Republican campaigns.

This would not be the first time that a husband and wife took different political positions.

And none of that is anywhere close to Bob Steinburg being the water boy and prostitute for the corrupt green energy crony capitalists, as his buddies Goodwin and and Hanig. These special interest whores are pure poison for electric ratepayers. Are you aware that Steinburg even put his name on an op-ed piece with one of the most ultra-liberal Democrats in the Senate supporting this corrupt bunch?

          2. I just did a simple search of the internet shows that Twiddy’s contribution to Cooper was when he was AG and that the only contribution Anna Twiddy has ever made was to Richard Burr. Why is this so complicated?

          3. James – You might also add that those contributions to Cooper as AG were made during cycles when Cooper was NOT a Democrat nominee facing a GOP opponent. They were either in a cycle when he was not running for anything or in the cycle when Robin Hayes crack GOP team left Cooper unopposed in the general election.. When Cooper faced McCrory, Twiddy gave big bucks to McCrory. ‘Nuf said.

It looks like the poster above is trying to invent fake news. That sounds just like something that Solar Steinie would do.

  2. “Chamber of Commerce” – that says it all! Several decades ago, the Chamber used to be a limited government – free enterprise – low tax organization, but it is now just the opposite – It is for crony capitalism, like Putin’s Russia instead of free enterprise. It is for big spending instead of low taxes. And it is for big government instead of limited government. These days, it is getting difficult to tell the difference between the Chamber of Commerce and the AFL-CIO.

This is a cleare primary choice between a big government / special interest “Republican” and a real Republican.

  3. The Republican establishment. The worst enemy of true Republicans. The fringe types – Either side – Don’t bother me so much.

Party politics is never from the heart – Always about personal power for a few.

God bless the men and women who remain true to the constitution.

  4. Thank heavens for Beverly Boswell and the few true conservatives we have in the General Assembly!

I want the freedoms and persons of our citizens to be protected, government restraints of free enterprise to be removed, and God, the truth, and parental respect returned to our schools. That’s not too much to ask, is it?
