Yet ANOTHER sellout in the US Senate ?

Donald Trump and Julius Caesar have at least one thing in common.  They both know what it’s like to get stabbed in the back repeatedly by senators.

I’m old enough to remember weasels like Thom Tillis going on TV to badmouth Trump’s border wall, as well as preaching the gospel of aisle-crossing on things like amnesty and gun control.  Mitch McConnell — who shares with Joe Biden the title of Most Decrepit in DC — readily encouraged that kind of thing during Trump 1.0.  Will we see an encore performance during Trump 2.0?

McConnell is backing out of the party leader role in the Senate.  There are three leading contenders battling to replace him:  Rick Scott of Florida, John Thune of South Dakota, and John Cornyn of Texas.

Of the three, Scott is the clearest Trump ally.   Cornyn has collaborated with Tillis & co. on such legislative gems as gun control and amnesty for illegals. Thune has spent most of his career following McConnell around like a puppy.  He also has been known to tweet out *gems* like this:

Anyway — it appears that the GOPers in the US Senate have been counting noses recently for their next leadership vote.  (It is good to see that the newly-elected folks are included.). Here’s how the count reportedly goes:

SO, we have Tillis — being the good McConnell soldier he’s always been — sticking with Thune. And we have Ted Budd going with John Cornyn.  These guys are something.  They go out on the campaign trail praising Trump and getting all kinds of concessions, endorsements and the like from him.  Then they get back to Washington and stab him in the back.  Trump HAS a mandate, folks.  There’s a mission afoot to fix the country.  There is no time for the stroking of 100 egos.
