Want MORE important facts, LESS bias? Dump NC drive-bys for Hong Kong paper.

It’s a shame when you have to go all the way to Hong Kong to get important, truthful information about what’s happening in North Carolina.  McClatchy, WRAL, etc. are doing their best to incite violence and inflame racial tensions in Elizabeth City — scene of the latest “controversial” police shooting.

Meanwhile, the Hong Kong-based anti-communist newspaper The Epoch Times is bending over backwards to bring some honesty and balance to the reporting on the episode.

“District Attorney Says Andrew Brown Jr. Hit Police With Car Before Officer-Involved Shooting” was the headline for the April 28 edition of the Epoch Times.  How did The N&O and the AP headline their story on the SAME day’s court action?

“Judge won’t release videos of deputies shooting Black man.”  Seriously.

The N&O buried the  car-contact info about 1/2 to 3/4 into their story.  The ET went with it as the lede — for one thing, because it was freakin’ important to the story.  And NO ONE ELSE was going to make sure their readers or viewers were going to be made aware of it:

A North Carolina district attorney said Wednesday that Andrew Brown Jr.’s car hit deputies before they fired shots at him, killing him, in the latest officer-involved shooting that is drawing the ire of Black Lives Matter activists.

District Attorney Andrew Womble told a judge at a hearing that he viewed body camera footage of the incident and disagreed with how lawyers for Brown’s family described his death. The lawyers had claimed that Brown’s car was stationary when officers fired.

Brown’s car, however, struck deputies twice before shots were heard, Womble added.

“As it backs up, it does make contact with law enforcement officers,” he said, noting that in the video, the car stops again. “The next movement of the car is forward. It is in the direction of law enforcement and makes contact with law enforcement. It is then and only then that you hear shots.”

It came days after Chanel Cherry-Lassiter, the attorney representing Brown’s family, said that she and some family members were shown about 20 seconds of the footage, claiming Brown posed no threat to officers. They said Brown was in his driveway when a sheriff’s truck blocked him and alleged that deputies ran up to his vehicle while shooting.

Deputies were serving a drug-related arrest and search warrant when the incident unfolded.[…]

*I’d say hitting the cops with your car is not a good way to start off an encounter with the folks in blue. *

If you’re looking for some A-1 reporting — even about stuff down the road or across the state, check out The Epoch Times.  They, unlike The N&O, appear to actually have respect for North Carolina and its law-abiding residents.

I’ve talked to folks on the ground in Elizabeth City who have educated me on one more thing our drive-bys are not telling us about.  I’m told 7 to 8 out of every ten “protesters” is from elsewhere — not Elizabeth City nor Pasquotank County.  A good chunk of them are part of the Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro far-left kooky professional protester caucus.
