Key figure in Easley scandals cuts big check to NC Senate GOPers

A name that popped up a lot amid reporting on scandals surrounding then-governor Mike Easley is now popping up on a state Republican campaign report.

There was the issue of NC State University hiring then-First Lady Mary Easley.  And there were the on-the-down-low airplane flights for Gov. Easley.  And then there was something about “false invoices” for repairs on the Easley residence.  Raleigh developer McQueen Campbell’s name popped up amid each of those episodes.

Now, here at the end of the 2018 election cycle, Campbell’s name is popping up in a political context on the other side of the aisle:
