Here come the solar goons !
The year is young, and the solar goons and their lobbyists are at full throttle. There was a “clean energy” virtual event today. Apparently, it was part of a series of virtual events.
It looks like the next one is on March 12.
The sponsor of the event was something called Chambers for Innovation & Clean Energy. Apparently this group is a national conglomerate of Chambers of Commerce lobbying for various solar projects in their respective states and communities. Their website IDs North Carolina as a “priority state.”
Today’s event featured Roy Cooper and a whole lot of other pro-solar panel Democrats. AND Republican state Rep. Larry Strickland. (I checked. He’s not in the House Freedom Caucus. At least, they’re not publicly claiming him.)
Focus on Strate Solar of Chapel Hill. Its German CEO, Markus Wilhelm, was formerly with the German publisher Bertelsmann, known for very shady business practices.
The solar and wind grifters are the guts of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal, which her own top aide publicly stated was designed to advance socialism, not the environment. Any Republican who pushes for wind and solar is pushing for the Green New Deal and should be shunned by GOP voters in the next primary. This is one of those key issues that separates the men from the boys, or more appropriately, the friends of the taxpayer from the conmen who want to rip off the taxpayer.
North Carolinians have subsidized this silly technology for many years. First they have backed tax credits here in NC to the tune of more than $2.5 billion. Secondly, as ratepayers we were forced through bizarre policies by the Utilities Commission to over-pay almost $2 billion in our electricity rates. Were it not for the falling prices of natural gas we would have seen real pain. In the future we will be footing the bill to dispose of spent solar panels after the Utilities Commission were duped by the goons into thinking they might have value. That has now been debunked.
Cooper and others in the GA are unfortunately in bed with these goons but recently Stanly County passed ordinances that protected residents by forcing solar companies to maintain financial assurances for clean up. Every county should follow their lead.
