Greater Carolina probe expanding to include ABC warehouse debacle

It appears the mess over a new warehouse for the state Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) board is getting some serious scrutiny by members of the law enforcement community.

You may remember a new warehouse was part of the discussion on those lobbyist-and-cash-infested Greater Carolina trips for legislators a few years back. (*It likely got squeezed in there nicely between the visits to the strip clubs and the “Men’s Clinic.“*)

You may remember that the warehouse affair really came to the public’s attention via a disagreement between state Rep Brenden Jones and the ABC director. According to various media accounts,  Jones reportedly told his colleagues that the only choice for the warehouse was one to be developed and owned by a Florida group that also happened to be Jones contributors and tied to the Greater Carolina probe.

The ABC director said he and his team preferred a less-costly option that would actually be owned by the state.

It appears the now-public dispute and the interest by the Greater Carolina investigators have put the whole warehouse deal on hold.
