General Assembly GOP can’t unite on question of sheriffs cooperating with ICE
It seems like a no-brainer, right? You’re in law enforcement. Another law enforcement agency contacts you to do something for them – like, say, hold a suspect in custody until they can get to you. And you do it for them, right? Inter-agency cooperation is what I think they call it.
Unfortunately, we have about three big-city, leftist-controlled sheriff’s offices who have decided they will not aid US Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) in enforcing the immigration laws. (But they’ll gladly take all kinds of grant money from those same feds. Oh, yes they will.)
[…] But negotiators failed to hammer out a final bill that would force sheriffs and jailers to comply with federal immigration requests to hold inmates believed to be in the country illegally. The House and Senate couldn’t resolve what to do about a sheriff who still failed to comply, said Sen. Danny Britt, a Robeson County Republican and negotiator. […]
Obstructing an investigation ??? Anyone? Anyone? (*Bueller?*)
A previous article had Britt suggesting that there was some discomfort out there about handing suspects over to ICE after stopping them for minor traffic infractions. *SO, we need something “serious” like – say – MURDER to find out if they are also violating immigration law?*
The construction and berry picker lobbies have got to be breathing a sigh of relief over this one.
At this point, one seriously has to wonder if there is ANY portion of the GOP platform that elected Republicans will fight to defend.
With every bone in my body, in this carcass of a state, currently SWARMING with illegals, being dropped off in the middle of the night by the bus loads in these aforementioned districts, being shepherded in at RDU in the wee hours of the morning, watching mini-Guadalajara’s spring up in the reddest areas of the state (f$ck YOU Rouzer and Murphy for completely funding the Biden regime and Israel, doing SH$T about our border), do I loathe the NCGOP. Pathological liars.
These eunuchs are our mortal enemies. They want OUR families dead. There is simply no other explanation.
Probably the craziest comment I’ve ever heard from a Republican legislator. Insane.
At what indescretion will ICE be called?
As one of my previous NC GOP representatives (and senator) once said, “Dat GOP platform don’t mean nuttin.”
It would be good to know who betrayed us on this one. Was it the Senate or the House? Who were the players in coddling the wayward sheriffs?
The last time there was an effort to deal with sanctuary counties, the problem was in the Senate. Berger refused to go along with cracking down on them, so I suspect we are dealing with the usual suspects here. It would be good to know the details, however, if anyone around the legislature would like to share that info.
In an election year when polls show that illegal immigration is one of the two top issues with voters, this was a really stupid move by Republican legislators. Crime is also a major issue that this ties into, and illegal aliens are closely linked with crime. Here are some examples: https://www.beaufortcountynow.com/post/78910/illegal-alien-migrants-behaving-badly-migrants-and-crime-newly-updated.html
