Federal deficit DOUBLED
Last month, the federal government recorded a deficit that was TWICE what it was at the end of May 2011:
The U.S. government posted a budget deficit of $125 billion in May, more than twice the level registered in the same month last year.
So far this fiscal year, the budget deficit stands at $844.5 billion, narrower than at the same time a year ago.
Under the government’s accounting system, October is the opening month of fiscal 2012. During fiscal 2011 which ended Sept. 30, the budget deficit totaled $1.296 trillion.
Before certain folks start sputtering: “Bu-bu-bu-but, HARRY REID !!!” , remember that ALL FEDERAL SPENDING HAS TO ORIGINATE IN THE U.S. HOUSE.
Who controls the U.S. House? Why, it’s the GOP. You remember — the folks who kissed up to us fed-up Tea Party folks in 2010 promising to cut all of this federal spending and get the country’s affairs in order. Remember that?
We need to keep a tally on who is responsible in Congress for this overspending. The Club for Growth just compiled a scorecard on how each Congressman voted on the amendments that have been offered in the House on recent appropriatiions bill to cut spending, and calculated the percentage of votes on which each one voted to cut spending.
Here are the delegation averages:
SC Republicans – 93.6%
NC Republicans – 74.3%
NC Democrats – 4.8%
SC Democrat – 0%
No South Carolina Republican was below 92%. One, Mulvaney was 100%
North Carolina’s delegation came out as follows:
Foxx – 92%
Myrick – 90%
Jones – 85%
Coble – 79%
McHenry – 69%
Ellmers – 31%
Ellmers ran as a Tea Partier, but on votes to cut spending she tied liberal Chicago black Democrat Bobby Rush, who also had 31%, and only came our one point higher than Ohio liberal gadfly Dennis Kucinch, who had 30%.
As to the so-called Blue Dogs, we saw what phonies they are. Shuler had 0%, Kissell 8%, and McIntyre 17%.
