DEM NCGA candidate charged with snatching GOP campaign signs

State Rep.  Neal Jackson‘s (R) reelection effort just got a little bit easier.   His opponent, Moore County Democrat Party Chairman Lowell Simon, just had a rather unpleasant interaction with the Moore County Sheriff’s Department.

(*This booking photo will suuuuuure look nice on the fireplace mantel in the Simon residence.*)

“Sheriff Ronnie” and his team have the details:

Misdemeanors, huh?  You may be asking: “So, what?”

This story is funnier when compared with a 2022 Simon temper tantrum on social media:

The tactics he promoted in 2022 took him down in 2024.

I am actually not a big fan of roadside campaign signs.  Gaggles of several dozen campaign signs don’t do much good.  It’s all one big blur to the average driver.  Signs actually in people’s front yards tell you a whole lot more.

Somebody spent money on that stuff.  If you don’t own the signs, you have no right to uproot them, damage them, take them away, nor trash them.  (There is an exception – I think – for public workers trying to work within the confines of a public right-of-way.)

You have to wonder why — if Lowell was so upset about GOP signs blocking his candidates’ signs — he didn’t just move HIS signs?  That might have saved him some headache.  (And perhaps some lawyer fees and court costs.)
