Bannon: Mike Whatley is “not MAGA”
Steve Bannon – one of the architects of the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement as well as one of the brains behind Donald Trump’s 2016 victory — is making it crystal clear to his fans that former RNC and NCGOP chairman Michael Whatley ain’t one of us.
This makes Bannon the second Trump-connected figure to come out against Whatley (the alleged Trump choice for North Carolina’s US Senate seat). Trump’s first pick for national security advisor, General Mike Flynn, has publicly endorsed Whatley’s opponent in the March primary.
Here’s Bannon on Friday’s edition of War Room:
“[…] But Whatley is not MAGA. One of the reasons he’s running so poorly in North Carolina. If you talk to the MAGA folks down there, they’re just not enthusiastic about it.” […]
Here’s the video:
Liars ranging from John Locke to the Raleigh & Charlotte legacy drive-bys have bent over backwards trying to present to their dwindling readership and viewership that (1) there is no GOP primary for US Senate and (2) Michael Whatley is invincible and inevitable.
Too bad the Harper Poll had to come out and blow that scam to smithereens. The poll did two things: (1) confirmed that there is a choice for Republicans in the form of one Don Brown, and (2) Whatley AND Brown perform roughly the same in a head-to-head match with Cooper.
What makes (2) so extraordinary is that Whatley has been buried in million$ worth of funding from the state and national GOP and has benefited from oodles of logistical help from both of those entities. Yet, he’s doing about as well as his opponent, Brown, who has been running on a shoe-string operation with NO party help.
One would think this development creates a gaping hole for Brown to run through straight for the end-zone. The BIG QUESTION: Will Brown recognize this opportunity and take advantage of it?

Thanks for publishing this brief but informative clip from War Room. Whether or not you follow and like Steve Bannon, he in unapologetic to fake conservatives and GOPe opportunists like Michael Whatley. Bannon rightfully attributes recent RNC successes to Lara Trump, not to our former NCGOPe Chair who latched onto Donald J. Trump’s coattails back in 2019 as his sole source of credibility for leading the NCGOP and the RNC. And even then, Whatley insisted privately that the most important race to win in 2020 wan’t Trump’s bid for President, but rather the U.S. Senate race featuring his mentor, Thom TIllis. Despite his unethical manipulations of the RNC (like invoking Rule 11 and staying on as RNC Chair after he announced his bid for Senate), the polls and deep grassroots sentiments clearly show Whatley is in trouble. All those manipulated funds will not curry favor from the 25% of grassroots NC republicans who traditionally go to vote in the primary election.
The biggest single act of total incompetence by Whatley at RNC was his being asleep at the switch on the presidential debates. His predecessor, Rona Romney McDaniel screwed up a lot, but she did one thing right, and that was to get out of the Presidential Debate Commission mousetrap, where that commission always put up liberal MSM moderators who skewed the debate to favor Democrats. Instead of that commission being involved the national parties were to directly negotiate debate details. So far, so good, but then she left and Whatley came in. Whatley was completely AWOL on the presidential debates and failed to initiate the negotiations with the Democrats.
Since nothing was in the works on the debates, the Biden campaign inserted itself into the process and virtually dictated debate details. The moderators were as awful as always, totally skewed to the Democrats. Worse, that allowed Team Biden to slip in that highly unusual and unprecedented very early debate so they could road test Biden’s ability to handle a debate before the Democrat convention. That is what allowed them to shift gears to Kamala Harris when Biden failed that test. If Whatley had been competent enough to actually engage on debate negotiations before allowing Team Biden to jump in and dictate them, we would not have had the early debate, and the Democrats would have been stuck with Biden after their convention with no easy way out.
If a clearly incompetent and out-of-it Biden had been the Democrat nominee in November, we would have won a massive landslide up and down the ballot instead of the much more modest victory we did. Whatley’s incompetence on the debate arrangements is why we did not get that landslide. He should NOT be rewarded for that incompetence.
Our shellacking in the council of state races is nothing to be proud of either. Whatley’s record is not good. Also, who can forget the very suspect state party elections (even blowing them off entirely after crowbarring himself into office real suspiciously one year). This record does not deserve reward.
Come on, J.P.
There’s only ONE race on the ballot that matters to the NCGOP, Simmons and Whatley. President Trump won NC. Bam. Job completed.
Those who want more than that are just greedy.
Yeah, I suppose that’s a good plan if the goal is to become a blue state.
Saying Brown “had no party help” is like saying Caesar had no help in Rome’s senate.
