Extending our sympathies
We get pretty tough on the folks who work in the legislative building in Raleigh. But, sometimes, you have to step back and remember that they are humans — with feelings — just like US.
Our heartfelt sympathies go out to State Rep. Larry Pittman (R-Cabarrus) and his family over the death of Pittman’s son this past weekend. Parents never anticipate outliving their children. It’s just not supposed to work out that way. (I have friends who lost a son in a car crash 12 years ago. They are nowhere near getting over it. I doubt they ever will.)
We have not had the pleasure of getting personally acquainted with Rep. Pittman. We’ve been big fans of his work at the legislature. He’s been a true champion of limited government and cleaning up with the process of governing.
There are certain occasions where we — in the political game — need to set aside the Rs and Ds next to our names and reach out to each other like human beings. This is one of those times.
Include the Pittman family in your prayers. If you have children, go give them a hug and tell them you love them. And pray that you never have to go through what the Pittmans are going through now.
Well said. My thoughts and prayers go out to Rep. Pittman and his family. I cannot imagine their loss.
This is so sad for Rep. Pittman and his family. My prayers are with them. And Pittman is one of the GOP conservative heroes in Raleigh.
Losing a child is an event you never get over; I lost my daughter 14 years ago and it is like it was yesterday. My prayers are with Rep Pittman and his family.
