When RINOs roar: Moore County GOP gets all *cease & desist* on nascent conservative caucus
With three months to go before the big November election, there is little harmony to be found in one of the most loyal GOP-voting counties in North Carolina.
Something called The We The People conservative caucus is forming up in Moore County. Here’s how it publicly defines itself:
Apparently, there are some GOP activists in-county who believe the local party needs some assistance in promoting the core conservative beliefs found in the GOP platform.
That’s not sitting well with the old codgers from Pinehurst (Tom Adams, Tom Beddow, et. al.) who currently have the local party in a stranglehold. Critics say the Moore County party is not growing, not raising money, and not making any serious plans to Get-Out-The-Vote for November. That is all in addition to failing to educate and promote to the public the tenets of conservatism.
The Pinehurst crowd’s favorite pastime appears to be voicing its obsessive hatred of David Hensley, an incumbent county school board member and co-founder of We The People. Poorly-attended party meetings are dominated by grumbling about Hensley, instead of discussions about the aforementioned things that don’t appear to be getting done.
Meanwhile, the state party – in a spot of trouble itself – is depending on a strong showing from reliably-red Moore County in what looks to be a challenging election year.
Hensley and We The People are already marketing meetings targeting self-described conservative Republicans. Here’s one of their ads:
Okay. An event targeting conservative Republicans to come out and get active in this really tough election year. What could be wrong with that?
Both parties have all kinds of internal caucuses in Raleigh and DC. Once again, check out how the caucus describes itself on social media:
Well, the Pinehurst codgers – so comfortable with being the ones Raleigh and DC call when they want something and so eaten-up with Hensley Derangement Syndrome – have decided to throw a bit of a tantrum:
*GASP!* *We just can’t have the Republican Party associated with conservatism, now can we?*
It’s actually a shame that party members feel a need to start a caucus aimed at promoting conservatism. The GOP itself ought to be just doing it.
But, no. Some of these people would rather go down in flames than have to actually rub elbows with, or vote for, these MAGA conservative types.
MC GOP did not okay their logo to be used. End of story.
What’s happening in Moore County is a lot like what is happening in another loyal GOP voting county: Beaufort County. Like Moore County, Beaufort County has a conservative caucus: The Beaufort County Conservative Club. The local GOP hates them also and works against conservative Republican candidates in primaries and general elections.
I wonder if other counties have situations like this.
I’ve heard of several. Person county have a nutcase for a chair and the local conservative rank-and-file folks can’t get rid of her because the NCGOP POO says they can’t. In neighboring Granville county, the ex-chair seems be running the party through puppet officers and has been committing one strategic blunder after another, the most recent being where he was caught in the act trying to influence GOP Board of Elections members by text message DURING a board meeting. And that county’s party seems to have absolutely no problem with Republican county commissioners voting to massively hike property taxes either. Same thing in Franklin County though I’m told that conservatives there have a bit more influence in the Franklin GOP.
It’s time to unite. Democratic Socialism is on the attack. Attacking fellow conservative Americans is only helping THEIR CAUSE. Wake up Moore County and let the American Conservative values rise up before it’s too late. A house divided cannot stand.
