Want to vote? (*Mark the spot on this map nearest to where you sleep.*)
All kinds of politicos are patting themselves on the back claiming to have restored election integrity. (That’s why we’re being told to vote for Mike Whatley.)
Look past all that and take a look at what’s going on right now in North Carolina’s election oversight and management process.
Take a look at the state’s current voter registration form. Here’s the part that jumped out to me:
Notice item #6. Instead of providing a specific house number and street name where you reside, you can ID the nearest intersection and mark a specific spot on the sidewalk or in an alleyway denoting where you sleep.
Oh, the form DOES ask for a phone number and an address for receiving mail. A leftist NGO can fill out these forms for these people using a property and phone number owned by the NGO. It would be interesting to see how many instances we have with dozens or hundreds of voters tied to one address and phone number.
Meanwhile, there IS legislation to confirm residency and citizenship of voters that is currently bottled up in the state Senate Rules committee. (You folks in Rockingham County are well aware of who runs the show in the state Senate.)
Line Item #6, I am told, has been on the registration form for about the last six years. That, of course, was amidst the era of Roy.
HOW – with this current setup – can you verify with any confidence that our voter rolls are only populated with actual residents and citizens? (*I don’t know about you, but I can occupy multiple spots on multiple sidewalks in multiple cities in multiple states in ONE DAY.*)
There is still a LONG WAY to go on the issue of election integrity. Folks currently in office don’t seem to be as worried as they probably should be. After all, they’re already IN OFFICE and IN POWER. (*Where’s the problem?*)
