Trump tired of Thom Tillis TOO?
Welcome to the party, Mr. President.
If you recall, there was a lot of drama around the confirmation of Pete Hegseth as secretary of defense. Word came out that our very own Thom Tillis was working with Democrats and a handful of the senate GOP’s worst RINOs to try and upend Hegseth.
In fact, we learned that senate Republican leaders were counting Tillis as a ‘NO’ on Hegseth the night before the vote on Hegseth’s nomination. Then, suddenly, Thom Tillis was all for Tillis and every other one of Trump’s nominees.
Democrats and RINOs were flabbergasted. What on earth had made this weasel do such a quick U-turn after doing so much anti-Hegseth work?
The answer to that question appears to be leaking out:
[…] Four days after President Donald Trump was sworn in for his second term, his nominee for defense secretary was teetering on the brink of defeat on the Senate floor, and the president was on Air Force One talking about political retribution.
Trump had gotten word that Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., planned to oppose Pete Hegseth, a former “Fox & Friends” weekend host who was his choice for Pentagon chief and who faced accusations of excessive drinking and abusing women. If Tillis could not be brought to heel by that night, there would be enough Republican “no” votes to sink Hegseth’s confirmation, a humiliating defeat at the dawn of Trump’s second term.
Turning to a group of North Carolina lawmakers who were flying with him to survey storm damage in their state, Trump noted Tillis’ impending defection and posed a question: Which of them wanted his endorsement for a primary challenge to the senator next year?
The implication was clear: Tillis’ refusal to back Hegseth could cost him his seat.
By that night, Tillis, who had been toiling behind the scenes for days to kill Hegseth’s nomination so he could avoid having to publicly cross Trump, would vote to confirm Hegseth to control the most powerful military force in the world.
The story of Tillis’ secret effort to persuade fellow Republicans to join him in opposing Hegseth — and his sudden turnabout when it became clear he would be the deciding vote to defeat the nominee — is a tale of political calculation and capitulation by a single GOP senator.

Okay. So now everyone can stop believing that TRT has found Jesus and boarded The Trump Train. It’s all about extending his stay in DC six more years. It’s not about public service. It’s not about ‘saving the country.’ It’s about doing whatever it takes to fatten his and Shumaker’s pockets. (And apparently about avoiding a spanking from ‘Daddy Trump.’ )
It’s about pleasing their DC friends. It’s got nothing to do with US.
Ted Budd seemed to figure out early on that stuff against Hegseth was a bunch of crap. Yet, Tillis kept running with it.
How Trump handled Tillis here is how we need to handle all of our electeds. Too many people think the job is done after the election results are announced. Not hardly.
Stay in their faces. The information is out there all over the place. If they lie, if they stab you in the back, call them out. Primary them. They need to know that with every weasel-move they contemplate, the wrath of the voters is waiting right around the corner.
At one time, way back in his Raleigh era, Tillis was kind of a big deal. The drive-bys paid a lot of attention to him. The money spigot was on full-blast. His colleagues fawned over him and deferred to him. Now, he’s simply a scraggly one-in-535. His attempts at sabotaging the Trump / GOP agenda are the only reasons people pay attention to him anymore.
If we wanted someone to ‘work with Democrats’, we’d have elected a Democrat. Why is it so much to ask for someone we elect to Capitol Hill to do what they promised on the campaign trail?
We didn’t vote for any of this garbage Scraggly Thom is trying to spoon-feed us. We didn’t ask him to go play Brutus and search out ways to stab Trump in the back.
We’ve got a country to save. There’s really no time for games like this.
If you ever see any candidate hate Donald Trump and love Romney and support BLM, you should never support them.
Tillis joining Lindsay in Zelisky mtg. WHY go? What biz he have mtg w/ Z.
We cannot primary Tillis quick enough.
WHO is the STRONGEST R we can trust?
Don Brown
I agree Kjones! Don Brown would be an Awesome Candidate!
Tillis must go. It’s overdue, in fact.
